I still think Willow can kick Clark’s ass, if she’s having one of her “moments”.
Or even if she’s not. Heck, depending on who’s writing, Buffy, or any vampire might be able to do it. Clark’s invulnerability is notoriously unreliable around magic.
And yeah, Smallville is warmed over Buffy tropes, with a side order of DC history. Still, I like Buffy tropes and DC history. It’s managed, thus far, to stay just this side of being watchable, but I can’t defend it much father than that.
Sure, but she’d have to take a long, luxurious shower first. And possibly wear a white latex bikini during the ass-kicking.
BTW, this week’s most insane perversion of physics? That crazy plastic surgeon lady was able to put a latex bikini on an unconscious Lois. WTF? That’d be all but impossible with full cooperation and a pound of baby powder. Truely, evil genius at work.
One thing I did like was the notion of Clark trying out for football. The show is, after all, supposed to be about how Clark Kent grows up to become Superman. It’s only natural that he’d want to show off, etc. despite his father’s good advice. So I kinda liked that part.
The monster-of-the-week (or bad-guy of the week) is part and parcel of every action/adventure TV show, I don’t get the beef about that. The idea of an arc-story is fairly new. Whaddya want, an episodek devoted entirely to the teen-agers sit around and talk about homework, eat ice cream, and watch TV … ?
The first season, where every week’s bad guy was the same, that was borrrring. Every week, we had a new teen with mutated super-powers from kryptonite exposure. Very boring. At least, the last season and this one, there’s a variety of bad guys.
But this villain was the same. Granted, the actual evilness was manifested through the mother, but it’s the same deal going all the way back to the pilot. Pissed off person finds some kryptonite, gets superpowers, and wreaks havoc. Clark rescues Chloe, Lana or Lois Just In Time, and then manages to be exposed to the kryptonite, collapsing like a ball of goo.
Also, I hate Lois.
Well, it wasn’t mutated powers so much as experimentation. I grant you, it aint much different. And I agree, this episode was throw-back, sorry if I was unclear.
Most of the episodes last season got away from that formula. But they still need a baddy each week.
That’s good to know. I haven’t seen season 3 and am waiting for the DVDs to come out so I can Netflix them.
