I just watched the season premiere of Smallville and I must say it was phenomenal. Not since Christopher Reeve have I seen such a grand performance of the Superman character. Tom Welling is the best portrayal of Clark Kent I’ve ever seen hands down. I’m a big fan of Superman, but I was not impressed with Lois & Clark because Dean Cain was always Superman, even when he was Clark. His Clark was just Superman with glasses, not the shy, but polite and lovable nerd that he’s supposed to be. Christopher Reeve played both roles incredibly and I see that same conflict going on in the “new” Clark Kent (he even looks like Reeve). Finally something awesome has hit the WB network. I think this may become my new favorite modern show (I prefer the 80’s shows).
As a footnote, I think John Schneider is the Anti-Ted-McGinley. John takes a show that is really good and then puts it over the top. A sort of King Midas of television. Anyone else think this show has a great start?
