How long after finishing antibiotics for walking pneumonia did you wait to smoke a cigarette?

My wife smoked the whole time she was on antibiotics. Though not as much.
When I smoked, unconsciousness was the only time I didn’t light up. Quit 3 years ago, still miss them.
If you have managed to stop, why on earth would you consciously choose to re-start?
If you were diagnosed with a lung cancer, would that be enough to get you to stop?
Both my parents + the “one who got away” smoked themselves to death. The record was age 50, as in:
Born: 1951
Died: 2001
You will never be healthy enough to smoke.
