Okay, so am I the only one who remembers that drawing in National Lampoon of a Smurf having his way with Strawberry Shortcake?

There was no evil Smurfette. Although she was created by Gargamel, she later turned on him. The raven haired imitation female Smurf and the blonde Smurfette are one in the same, with the help of some Papa Smurf magic.
Am I the only one who saw the title “Smurf Genitalia” and thought, “Oh! Overcompensation! That’s why WIGGUM’s name is in all caps!”
The real question, however, is: If Smurfette was an artificially created, but still organic, life-form, what is the appropriate sci-fi/cyberpunk term for the kind of creature she is? A “Bioroid?” A “Gen-tek?” What, I ask you? What?

And IIRC…since his little plot with the evil Smurfette failed, Gargamel tried again to subvert the Smurfs by creating the Smurflings, who also were turned to good little Smurfs by Papa Smurf.
That still doesn’t explain where Puppy came from.

Ah, so that explains where those kid Smurfs came from. Was Baby Smurf one of the Smurflings? I always assumed that Smurfette was his mother.
Regarding Smurf biology: my guess is that Smurfs are capable of both sexual and asexual reproduction. Maybe there used to be a big Smurf city that Gargamel destroyed. Papa Smurf was one of the few survivors and, since he was alone, began to reproduce asexually. That would explain why all of his offspring are identical. We still need to explain why he’s the only one with a beard, tho’. Perhaps Smurf men don’t start to grow facial hair until later in life.

The Smurfs jumped the shark when they introduced Baby Smurf.
IIRC, he was delivered by a stork during a blue moon. Papa Smurf explained something about how smurfs are only born during a blue moon, but he was frustratingly vague about how they are actually conceived.
I’d stopped watching the smurfs before the Smurflings came along. Who is Puppy?
Skopo–The [url=“http://members.aol.com/toysho/characters.html”]Smurflings** were little bitty EVIL kid Smurfs created by Gargamel to cause havoc among the other Smurfs. But they got turned to good (along with their dog Puppy)by Papa Smurf and lived in the Smurf Village.
They are (in no particular order):
Sassette–the only other known female Smurf, has red braids and wears a pink jumpsuit and hat
Nat–the naturalist eco-Smurf, wears a non-traditonal Smurf outfit of brown overalls and a big straw hat
Snappy–Grouchy’s protege’, always bossy and in a bad temper
Slouchy–misfit kin of Sleepy the Dwarf?

This also supports the “Once in a Smurfy Blue Moon” conception/birth of Baby Smurf. It also tells that Puppy was a gift from the human wizard Homnibus to Papa Smurf. Also, if you keep reading, it refers to a Nanny Smurf (which I never remember seeing but anyway…), which is probably how all the Smurfs got there in the first place. Papa Smurf and Nanny Smurf got together over a bottle of wine and some cheese, romantic music and…you get the rest.
