Snacks from other cultures that you like

bagel & flavoured cream cheese

I had never encountered a bagel till I moved to the US. They weren’t real popular where I grew up first.

I thought I saw “Product of Taiwan” on a package, but I could be wrong.

I’m completely willing to buy several packages in the service of solving this mystery.

Mmm. Green-tea Pocky.
That dried cuttlefish stuff they eat from the bag in Japan. And the little strips of flavored nori.
Currywurst.
Stroopwafels. Regular Belgisch wafels.
Patatas bravas.
Arare, in particular the spicy crescent shaped kind.
Manapua
Shrimp chips of all kinds

They have those nice, oriental rice cracker thingies in bulk at some supermarkets. I like those.

Since I’m Japanese…

Im Hawaii, Tomoe Ame was way more popular…

puha and pork bones…Maori food…yum!

Matzoh chips are awful.

Wasabe-flavoured pea-chips are REALLY awful.

Twisties are grouse…they count as an ethnic food don’t they? They’re only sold in Australia so they are from another culture from the US? Yes???

Ahhhhh, told ya!!

My favourite? Snyder’s of Hanover’s pretzel chunks, specifically the Jalapeno and Mustard and Onion ones…

=^^=

Stroopwafels, yum.

Wasabi peas, yum.

Smoked almonds, yum.

Checil. Rubbery, salty, chemical cheesy goodness. Yum yum yum.

Baby star ramen. Where can you buy it in Australia?

Only if you’re not from Spain, Portugal or one of our ex-colonies.

Mind you, the best part of churros is the chocolate. The places that sell chocolate con churros usually make it relatively liquid; the one we had for sunday breakfast in my dorm was handmade and so thick it came off the sides of the cup when you tried to insert your toast or churro in it.

Just be careful when you ask for a churro in Mexico, because, if it’s the right kind of crowd you’re hanging with, you might get something that, uh, makes you really want to eat a snack (any snack!), rather than a snack itself.

another vote for edamame, Pocky, and Mr Brown iced coffee – oh man I love Mr Brown. I’ve only ever had one – but it was so good, I’d kill to find a supplier.

Oh, and I also love peach Pinky. Mmm!

Nutella! Nothing’s better on a toasted bagel, a hot waffle, or just smeared onto a Nilla Wafer.
