It seems that there’s a documentary-type show on Oprah’s network, called “Snapped”. Each episode documents a different case of a woman who killed her husband.
Given the target audience (women) and the title (notice that it’s not “Evil women who should be behind bars”…) does this strike anyone as a little, um, disturbing? That their message is “these women couldn’t take it anymore, and shot the bastard…maybe your hubby better watch out”?
Should Spike TV get equal time – men who offed their wives?
Good christ, is that men’s way of keeping our arses in the kitchen and away from their TV or what?!
shudder
I haven’t seen the show because Victim TV (Oxygen and Lifetime) is not allowed in the malkavia household, so I can’t really comment specifically. All of their shows seem to be craptastic stabs at the male gender though.
My dad told me a few months ago, “Jesus, Shan. I was channel surfing the other day and I ran across the Lifetime channel. You don’t watch this shit, do you?”
“No, dad. Why?”
“I swear to god, 15 minutes into it and I started hating us too.”
