snatch-amazing!!!

Which team did he play for Coldfire? I knew he was a former player, but not much more than that.

Was he any good, as a footballer that is?

He played for several teams, most notable Leeds United and Wimbledon, and was a defensive midfielder. He was also a Welsh international. Not noted for his talent, rather for his temperament and, um, “combative” style.

I remember going to see “Snatch” with my then girlfriend. We loved it so much, we went to video store and hired “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels”. We were amazed how many actors were in the “Smoking Barrels” film who ALSO played different roles in th “Snatch” film. In that sense, Guy Ritchie really has a fantastic ensemble to play with in future films if he can keep the quality scripts coming…

And how good was Sting in “Smoking Barrels”?

And what became of my girlfriend? Well, we’re married now and we just had our first child. We named our daughter “Madelleine” after one of the characters in one of those films - dunno which. In fact, I truly can’t remember if there was a Madelleine or not - but the nature of those films is that there almost certainly was.

Madelleine was probably a Pikey!

Doesn’t look like there were any Madeleines in either film, according to the IMDB. Interesting to see there were cameos by Ritchie and by Sol Campbell, which I didn’t know about until now.

I’ll venture to say this film is probably my favorite DVD in my collection. Brad Pitt is awesome in this. I get a kick out of the fact that he’s taking a squat behind a parked car when they drive out to the Pikey camp for the first time. That’ such a strange moment…but if you’re not looking for it, you’d miss it.

Loads of laughs throughout.

My sweetie and I went to see Snatch as our Valentine’s Day date. We had the chance to tell Guy that a few weeks later and he thought it was “sweet”.

I can spend an afternoon lying on the livingroom floor and watching the DVD with the commentary turned on:

Guy: “Are those my track pants?”
Matt: “Your girlfriend gave them to me.”

tee hee hee hee hee hee hee hee…

Has anyone ever tried the “Stealing Stones” feature? Haven’t had the chance to stick my fingers into that one yet.

I spend far too much time asking people, “Who took the jam outta your doughnut?”

I adore this movie.

I loved both those movies. One night a bunch of friends got together to have a movie marathon, we watched Snatch and Smoking Barrells… there was another one along the same lines we tried to rent but was out. I forget what it was called now though which drives me nuts because I want to see it!

Yes, yes you do.

I loved the scene (kinda - you’ll know when you see it) in Snatch where -

PLEAES DON’T HIGHLIGHT THE SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE FILM
it’s not a plot spoiler, more of a cinematography spoiler

something hits the the car carrying Tony, Avi, etc., then we see later Turkish( or was his LS&2SB name?) throwing the milk carton out of the van window

Priceless.

Snatch! Definatly one of my favorite movies. One of my few DVDs, and definatly the best one I have.

My roommates and I can run off the appropriate Snatch-quote for any situation

“What do you mean you lost him? he isnt a set of fucking car keys now is he?”

And the origional film was titled “Diamonds” (linkety link, near the bottom).

Great movie!

Some trivia from Snatch:

The use of Oasis’ Fucking In The Bushes as the soundtrack during the final big fight scene is downright inspired, as is the editing in both Snatch and Lock, Sock & Two Smoking Barrels.

Dennis Farina’s plane flights in Snatch are incredibly concise and funny.

Wasn’t Pecker in theaters around the same time as Snatch?

severin I will give you that “Ticker” was a better film, but “Star” had such vastly cooler driving.
Speaking of Vinnie Jones’ soccer carreer, according to imdb.com, he holds a world record: fastest time to be yellow carded. 3 seconds into a game…that’s pretty good (well, not really good), IMO. Anyone know anything about what he did?
Boo Boo Foo Sting was really a rather small part in LS&2SB. Does dispense some good fatherly advice towards the end, though. And he has a nice pub…

I remember what movie it was! I think…

Boondock Saints is supposed to be along the same lines as Snatch and LS&2SB.

Unless I’m way off.
