Snatch..

Anyone seen it yet? Would you recommend it? I heard Brad Pitt is very good in it although it’s a mostly English cast.
What? What did you think this thread was about?

I know that it doesn’t open in most cities till Friday but I couldn’t resist typing the word “Snatch”.

Seen it last weekend! Excellent movie, lots of humour, nice plot line with the occasional twist, good acting by Pitt and… Vinnie Jones is a born actor!

Go see it!

Cloggy you guys got it before the US. Excellant, I’ll go see it on Friday!

Don’t bother. If you want to see a decent movie by the same guy, in the same style, see his first one: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Very funny, very stylish. Snatch is just a bad imitation

I’m going to see it. Lock Stock may’ve been empty calories, but it was the best time I’ve ever had at the movies… (that’s NOT the same as it being my favorite movie, which it isn’t) The word from our British friends is that Snatch is essentially an expensive remake, but I’m sure that even if it doesn’t break new ground it’ll be enjoyable.

Of course, when it was released in Britain, it was called “Vagina.”

Seriously, Eve? Or am I gullible again? I tried to look that word up in the dictionary, but it wasn’t there!

“Lock Stock” is certainly better, but “Snatch” still is an amusing flick, IMHO.

A popular ode from my short-trousered, school playground days (something like…):

There was once an Elizabeth Regina
Who was known for her smelly vagina
Everywhere she walked
The people would talk
And no one would walk behind her.
It’s the way you tell 'em !

There was a young lass from Carolina…

(snip)

Isn’t this just a vague remake of “Lock, Stock…etc”?

BTW, Vinny Jones is an unreconstructed thug.

Reviews seem to be pretty consistent in saying that Snatch is almost as good at Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and that if you haven’t seen the latter then you will really enjoy the former.

I’ll see it for two reasons. First, Lock, Stock was a good movie; and second, after seeing Traffic I will be going to anything with Benicio del Toro until he convinces me otherwise.

The best thing about Snatch, however, is the ad campaign that has been playing here (San Francisco). Among other great lines is the closing line:

“Snatch opening everywhere, starting tomorrow.”

Coldfire, Eve was pulling your leg. Snatch refers to the theft. What I wonder is, is “snatch” slang for vagina in the UK as well?

Me, I’m first in line for Snatch. I don’t care if they’re empty calories; some movies are worthwhile just because it’s clear the filmmaker had a great time.

I agree in principle, but skip, skip, skip his earlier movie Excess Baggage, with Alicia Silverstone. Unless of course you enjoy dancing around in a dumpster full of used diapers.

We just saw it this afternoon, and I liked it a lot. Brad Pitt has come a long way since Devils Own.

Del Toro really didn’t do much except look really cool, loved Vinnie Jones, loved Mike Reid (Eastenders, can’t remember the name of the guy who played Turkish but I loved him too.

Some good laughs, a fun story line that was VERY similar to Lock, Stock… but still worth the $8.50.

However, is Guy Ritchie now absolutely out of ideas? Or can he do this movie a third time?

I’ve heard that it’s far more enjoyable if you haven’t seen Lock Stock.

Just got back… Got nothing more or less than what I expected. It’s Lock Stock all over again… Even has Vinnie Jones repeatedly slamming someone’s head in a car door. It was unoriginal, without redeeming social value and was unnecessarily flashy. But I enjoyed it a lot. Like I said, no more or less than I expected.
