Woah, this is so awesome! It’s under Mongolian Shoe BBQ. It’s kind of hard to do - it’s all flash or something and awkward, but you get to pick fabric and colors for all the parts. What’s really neat is that when you preview or when you’re done, you actually get to see the shoe and it looks REAL. I think it’s like $130US but If I make a design I really dig, I might just have to order a pair. I love Pumas but I have a hard time finding pairs in stores I like - most of the ones I like I can only find online and can’t see how they look with pants.
That is way too complicated for me. Couldn’t get the damn thing to work right. I wish there was a no bells and whistles version of the interafce, because I’d like some custom pumas. Great shoes those pumas.
I agree, it’s hard to use, and I’d have to select TWENTY different parts? Looks like it’s mass-produced shoes for me!
It’s pretty neat. I designed myself a nice pair of green and orange ones.
I remember a few years ago Nike had a more limited version of this, where you could choose a couple of colors and also a name/logo. Some guy got a bunch of publicity when he ordered a pair of shoes called “Sweatshop” and Nike refused to fill his order.
Reebok does this too, for their Classic lines. I think my next shoes will have to be purchased this way, as Reebok no longer makes shoes with the color scheme I prefer. Bah!
Designing the shoe was way too complicated, but I had a lot of time to kill before work today and stuck it out. Made an awesome black, white, and teal pair.
You can design your own Vans too, the slip ons and Classic I believe. But they keep coming out with new designs for the slip ons that are better than the custom choices.
