Snl 11/04/07

I loved it. Brian Williams was a GREAT host. The SNL digital short was good too. I had a feeling he was calling himself at home but I was close enough.

I LOVED the scene with the principal. “And I can’t believe I didn’t get my degree. Catch you guys around the Quad”

How bout yourself?

I thought he was the best host in a looong time- he really could have a career as an actor if he wanted, which is a weird thing to say about a news anchor. His fireman accent was hilarious, and his years of reading a teleprompter was evident in that he read his lines flawlessly without looking like he was reading them. I could have used more Bill Hader, and I wish I knew who the senator was who Fred Armisen did in two different sketches, but for current SNL, an above average episode.

Williams was much better than I would have expected. I agree about the fire fighter’s accent. Who knew he could do something like that?

I liked both the political sketches, which is unusual for me these days since I think the political stuff has gotten increasingly lame. I admit I laughed at the bit where everybody kept complimenting Hillary on her “witch” outfit.

“Nice bride costume”

“She’s a witch!”

Gold.

Not too bad a show, overall. I liked seeing Obama, and Williams seems very likeable.

I thought it would have been perfect to have Williams deliver the news on Weekend Update, but then NBC would never risk his credibility with the old line viewership of the evening news.

What a remarkably good episode. Williams was a natural.

I hadn’t seen an episode of SNL in quite some time, because I just hadn’t enjoyed an episode in so long. I just happened on it last night and thought he was an excellent host - I actually enjoyed watching what I saw of it.

I also want to chime in that Brian Williams impressed me with his acting ability. Did anyone else think he was reminiscent of Ray Romano as the firefighter?

No, but only because that would require accepting the proposition that Ray Romano is funny.

Just finished watching it. Williams was hilarious. The skits were good right through to the end, which almost never happens on SNL.

“Kickin’ and a-punchin’, that’s Brian Williams…”
