I always wonder if they throw stuff onto the prompter that he hasn’t seen before.
I liked the show, for the most part. I didn’t get the Maine Justice thing at all, and I was a little annoyed that the Dating Game sketch went on so long. I’ll give it a pass because of the Duck Tales joke.
He looked like Dave Foley, but I don’t think it was him.
It’s because no one knows who Buck Henry is anymore. Having said that, if they brought him back, there is no way they could do an Uncle Roy sketch anymore.
Tom Hanks in 1990. Steve Martin, Elliot Gould, and Paul Simon were the other club members in the sketch. Jon Lovitz was a waiter and an unknown Conan O’Brien was the doorman.
It increased the size of his head. He started to look like Barry Bonds. Of course, people were still in denial about Barry Bonds at the time, but that is the subject of another thread.
I also loved the show. It doesn’t matter that a few sketches didn’t take off, usually the final half hour is the least watchable. Timberlake is an incredible song and dance man, from his Bring It On Down to Veganville, to his musical numbers, the guy just oozes talent the way Michael Jackson did in his hey day. Loved the cameos too, they’re always fun.
I will admit, Timberlake is really good at the “Bring it on down” sketches, in large part from his ability to perform graceful dance moves while wearing giant Mickey Mouse gloves and shoes.
Same here, until the rapper ruined it. I know I’m an old fart, but I just don’t understand why anybody likes rap — let alone why they like it stuck in the middle of a different type of song.
Well since they’ve been sticking rap in the middle of songs since the late 80’s even an old fart has had 20 years to figure it out.
Personally I am surprised by the universal love for his musical bits - I thought it was the weakest I’ve seen of him on the show. He was still awesome at the “Bring it on down to <whatever>ville” but I liked liquor-ville better.
After they mentioned him in the 5-timers club skit, I was really hoping Drunk Uncle was going to make an appearance on Weekend Update. I’m pretty tired of Stefon.
I’ve read that the writer who does Stefon is leaving the show, so that may have been the last we’ve seen of the character. It’s still fun to watch, but the punchline got stale for me about ten sketches ago and doesn’t make me laugh.
Have they ever had Stefon mention a completely normal location, only to a confused Seth ask weird probing followup questions? Because that’d make a great final sketch.
