SNL: 'The First Black Harlem Globetrotter'

Ok, Dopers, I KNOW one of you can answer this question:

What is the last name of Michael Jordan’s character in the skit entitled ‘The First Black Harlem Globetrotter’?

To the best of my recollection, its Sweet River Baines, or Jones, or somethin similar, but I can’t remember and its driving me nuts. Online searches have not met w success. Help!

The immortal Sweetwater Baines

Baines - loved it!

Wartime, its Sweet River, right? Not Sweet Water. I gotta catch that episode of SNL on Comedy Central.

The best part of the skit was Ellen Cleghorn (?) as Sweet River’s sister: “You gots to play like yous know how, Sweet Rivah!”

Phil Hartman as the Branch Rickey type was pretty great, too.
Anyway, thanks for the confirmation - Baines it is!

"‘Hey, why’s that blackie on the team,’ or, ‘I don’t want to play with that blackie,’ or “I’m not passing the ball to blackie,’ or…”

“Okay, coach. I get it.”

Upon reflection, ya just might be right about it being Sweet River. But it appears we can at least agree that it was Baines.

Funny as hell skit, too. I liked it when the white Globetrotters were out there for the “magic circle”, which consisted merely of a few “properly executed” chest passes.
