SNL - Who?! What?! I'm Officially Old...

Fallon is an amazing impressionist, just really really good.

I actually really loved that bit. Pretty true to life in the theater.

I’m no spring chicken and I still enjoy SNL. Some of the musical acts aren’t my taste, but I just hit the mute button until the act’s over. The comedy skits are mostly still funny and I have no trouble getting the topical references in the jokes. I find it quite interesting how they figure out the best way to work the guest host’s talent into the show, starting with the opening monologue and intro.

Smoke a few bones of schwag and do a quarter gram of coke and it’s probably just as funny as it was when you used to watch it smoking a few bones of schwag and doing a quarter gram of coke.

LOVE “Stefon.” Can’t wait to go to the club named SquiieEEK.

Are you saying that Roseannroseannadana was a legitimate commentator

Never mind.

No, no, no… ‘never mind’ was Emily Letella! The elderly lady who alkways misheard things… Like presidential erection instead of election. :stuck_out_tongue:

Roseanne Rosannadanna was… well she was always pointing out things like someone with a booger in their nose and saying "I thought I was gonna puke!’ and the like.

OH!!! How I loved the late great Gilda!

Or try out a subway sleeping bag. Hadar cracks me the hell up.

i read about this character and apparently they change what he is supposed to say without telling him and so he doesn’t know it until it is on the cue cards, that is why it always cracks him up.

SDMB’s hottest thread is “SNL who what I’m officially old.”

This thread has got everything.

Bold fonts, punctuation, harsh critics, some dude’s MOM…quote buttons, and there’s even a Facebook share button. The thread is guarded by an English Bulldog that looks like Wilfred Brimley and the password is "DIABEETUS."

Rumor has it the thread was started by an overweight game show host named “Fat Sajak.”

Oh look who just replied, a woman who works at CVS, but don’t bother her cuz she’s on break.

Yep. FYI, The guy that writes Stefon with Hader is the very funny standup comic John Mulaney.

The stuff he says is so out there, I already didn’t blame him for cracking up, but now that I know they’re purposely messing with him, that just makes the skits funny on another level. Stefon is my favorite Weekend Update skit.

Also, they probably think most of the bits are funny, or they’d replace them with something else. With humor as subjective as it is, the 90 minute format means they’ll probably have something everyone watching finds funny (and something everyone thinks is stupid) - just not the same bits for everyone.

The Stephon skits crack me up on another level - I once worked with a kid like him. Seriously.

He was a nice enough kid but really out there… and believe it or not, the more mature ladies LOVED him. We worked in a wine bar and many a time we’d have small groups of women in their 40’s and 50’s who would come in would happily wait for him to be available to serve them.

Thanks, I had wondered about that too. I’ve seen plenty of funnier sketches with Hader (especially the ones as Herb Welch) and he very rarely cracks up, but does it quite often as Stefon. Now I know why.
