In the movie “Snoopy Come Home” a girl has another name for Snoopy. Does anyone remember what that name was?
I don’t remember.
The girl was Lila. I’m 99% certain I remember from the original strip when Snoopy ran away to visit his orginal owner in the hospital she greeted him with “Snoopy!”. If it was different in the TV special I sure don’t remember.
I believe Snoopy was always known as Snoopy. In “Snoopy Come Home” Lila calls him Snoopy. That was the name given to him by the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm, as seen in the primetime special Snoopy’s Reunion.
I think there’s a scene in Snoopy Come Home where a little girl grabs Snoopy and dresses him up for a tea party when she thinks he is just a stray. I believe that little girl called him “Rex” or some other generic dog name.
“Sometimes when I get up in the morning, I feel very peculiar. I feel like I’ve just got to bite a cat! I feel like if I don’t bite a cat before sundown, I’ll go crazy! But then I just take a deep breath and forget about it. That’s what is known as real maturity.” – Snoopy
As we are remembering, there was a girl other than Lila who picked up Snoopy while he was travelling and held him until he was freed by Woodstock. We’re trying to remember the name that this girl gave Snoopy.
… like I said, I think it was “Rex”.
It was indeed Rex. She had the bestest song, too, even if she was eeeeeeeeeeeevil.
Right.

I’m going to have to go rent that one for Michaela.
Oh yeah! Rex! I forgot all about that girl. Apologies.
Wasn’t Lila sick? Did she die or was she OK in the end?
NO DOGS ALLOWED…OR BIRDS!
Lila, Snoopy’s former owner had leukemia. The Peanuts gang later visited her in the TV show, I believe, “Why, Charlie Brown, Why?”
No, the character in Why, Charlie Brown, Why?, was named Janice, who did have leukemia and recovered fully. We’re not really sure what Lila was suffering from.
I just realized I got the 2 mixed.
Lila wasn’t terminal, just bored and lonely during a long hospital stay. The deal was, she wanted Snoopy to move back in with her when she got out. She lived in an apartment building…and never did the words “No Dogs Allowed” seem so welcome.
