My friend coined a new term that may come in handy. I expect to be under a snownado watch any day now.
Hmmm… I’ll pass on chasing any hailnados. They’re all good and fun until someone puts an eye out.
We only got an inch, which is way better than the 5-8 they were forecasting. (Apparently it went south; sorry Harmonious Discord). And it’s snowing right now, should stop by this afternoon.
I’m beyond sick of it.
It’s been 50F since at least 10:30 today when I checked that indeed it was as warm as I thought when we started getting a light snow. It snowed on and off until at least 12:30. The cloud cover left sometime after that and now it’s sunny and 50F. The temps yesterday were in the mid 30’s and never hit freezing.
Today the local paper has a picture of a lightening exploded large tree in front of an apartment complex. It happened about the time I started this thread. Enjoy the rest of your lives as thunder snow is reports is officially done.
The weather is weird this time of year. Winter changed into spring, spring changed into summer, summer changed back into winter, and winter gave spring and summer a miss and went straight on into autumn.
In Texas we could use some of y’alls rain or sleet or snow or whatever you’re willin’ to part with. Terrible drought’s ongoing, which has led to numerous fires. I just learned yesterday that a buddy’s lakehouse at Possum Kingdom went up in smoke along with 149 of his neighbor’s. Mother Nature appears to have adopted a feast or famine attitude this Spring.
We’ve had record breaking high river levels just two weeks ago, again. The rivers have been flooding for the last three years and we keep getting new record high breakers.
thunder snow is rare 6 to 10 per year in the USA from what i’ve read. this year has been a bunch more than that.
I can testify that thundersnow storms can be like thunderstorms, dropping huge amounts of snow under them, while nearby there is hardly any snow.
And now I want to see a snownado.
I want to see a snownado on the news - not going down my street.
Since there has never been a snownado, I’m not losing any sleep over this.
I stand corrected. While watching YouTubes of the deadly tornadoes I ran across a snow tornado video.
There must be a topic about the deadly tornadoes, but I remembered this one.
Too funny! I sent the link to my friend.
Saw a huge dust devil once. That was cool.
