Snow!

I went outside this afternoon to discover a thin coating of snow on the ground! The weather forecast speaks of 15 cm of snow this evening, and all next week is supposed to be below freezing.

It looks like winter has actually arrived in Toronto!

Gosh, if there’s that much falling, should those of us in the rest of Canada be anticipating the imminent declaration of a state of emergency?

Congratulations on your long-awaited snow.

here is our forcast

I am glad you guys are finally getting some snow!

We got our first snow of the season this weekend, too. It’s been steadily flurrying all day today, and should keep it up overnight.
My husband and kid spent about half the daylight hours today sledding on the golfcourse across the street from our house. Fun stuff!

Sounds like fun! Mr.Badkitty took our eldest and his friend yesterday to sled but our snow is hard! Our son went down, hit a hard patch and flew off and SMACK hit his back so hard he was screaming in pain and they came home. Sounds like it’ll be a while before he goes out again.

Bah. It’s been -20C or so with drifting snow or more since the middle of last week here. Probably my fault; I ran low on washer fluid with all the slush, and topped it up with water. Naturally this would mean instant -30C (-40 with windchill) + blizzard, and my co-worker asking me to drive to Red Deer for the day. :smack:

On the plus side my buddy got some snowmobiling in, and someone from the city apparently decided to use the half of the driveway I don’t use to dump snow ploughed from the alley, so I have an 8’ pile of snow out back next to my garage.

We’re getting the fisrt significant snow of the season (it has snowed a couple times before, but it melted fairly quickly). Might get 4-6".

W-a-a-a-a-a-ah! I want snow! Right now, it’s 37 and raining. Bleeech!

I’m so glad to finally see some snow on the ground. It just hasn’t felt right these past couple of months. Skating around Harbourfront last night wasn’t the same without some flurries.

There’s been virtually nothing on television today but local newscasters standing outside talking about the Icy Blast![sup]TM[/sup] descending on North Texas. So far it’s been more talk than actual ice. Just enough to coat all of the trees and power lines but very little on the roads. That’s supposed to change tonight and I really dread the (40 mile) drive to work in the morning. With my luck, it’ll be just bad enough to make the traffic utterly impossible, but not bad enough that I can stay home. I feel even worse for the wife - same drive, but she works in a hospital and they really do need her to be there.

Glad you’re finally getting snow, though. Please keep it up there, OK?

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! dances with glee

We’ve had snow on the ground for the last week or so. Temp has been 4ish during the day, -3 to -5 at night.

Today, I see this:

Weeee!

It’s cool. I like it. Snow on the ground makes winter complete. The winters without snow always make me feel the same as if I’ve forgotten something when I leave the house. I spend the first part of spring checking my pockets thinking “what am I forgetting?”

Yup, I just looked outside and there is about 4 inches on the ground that wasn’t there yesterday. Time for me to stop going outside unless I absolutely have to until spring.

Well, we have a thin coating of about 1 cm of snowish substance, just enough to snarl traffic. I got to work on time, but that was because I left an hour early, and that was because I woke up at 5:30 AM. [sub]And promptly posted to the Straight Dope, but I digress. [/sub] We don’t have any depth of snow or anything.

It’s snowing sideways right now. I think I’ll stay home today.

Here in Merrie England we aint had snow in yonks.

  • keeps fingers crossed

No snow today. Sleet. Icy, pelting, bounce-off-my-coffee-cup-lid sleet. And this isn’t even supposed to be the heart of the present storm.

Toronto is now officially submerged in winter.

Our forecast:

OH MY GOD IT’S GOING TO BE ANOTHER ICE STORM LIKE IN OKLAHOMA WHERE PEOPLE DIED THEY DIED LOCK UP YOUR WOMEN AND CHILDERN (SIC) WE’RE ALL DOOMED

According to the TV weatherman, anyway.

But it’s just been rainy and icky and cold.

We’ve got quite a bit here. I’m going to go out in a bit and shovel the snow away from my car so I can hope to get out and get to work tomorrow. It’s very pretty, but parking on the street is a real pain in the ass!

I woke up this morning (south of Minneapolis) to a beautiful 8" of fluffy featherlight snow. About 8am the sky cleared and it was beautiful white and bright and shiny. Heck, it’s so fluffy that even shovelling after the snow plow was easy.

The only down side is it doesn’t make good snowballs or snowmen.
