Since the Denver metro area is slammed with snow, I’m trapped in the Mouse Pad.
Pity my cats. So far I’ve given one of them a bath, cut everyone’s toe nails, trimmed toe and butt fuzz. Right now, I’m sure they’re plotting my demise.

I went to work for a half-day, then made a fruitless (and vegetableless, milkless, etc.) trip to the store. Now I’m firmly ensconced in front of the computer, except…
I think I need a nap.
We’re not snowed in to the same degree you guys are, but given New Mexicans’ complete incompetence driving in snow, six inches here has the same effect as two feet does in Denver. I woke up to snow this morning, and it’s been going steadily ever since, so we’ve all been watching TV, hanging out online, calling our friends and family to marvel at how much snow we have and ask how much they have (it’s often a very different amount just five miles away), and, in my case, baking bread. Luckily, I stopped by the store on Wednesday, so we’re pretty well fixed for provisions.
The idiot kids down the street, on the other hand, are shooting off fireworks.
Nothing. Nothing at all. I changed jobs about a month ago and my new company closes for the week between Christmas and New Years, and I envisioned a couple days of skiing, and getting a start on a New Years Resolution to get in better shape. Well, I70 has been closed for about 60% of the last week and the local Rec center is closed, so I haven’t done a damn thing except shovel freaking snow.
I don’t know when I’m going to be able to take down the Christmas lights because I’ve got about 3 1/2 feet of snow in my yard. Kinda hard to move the ladder around.
I dug my car out of the snow for the third time in a week, went to work for two hours, then came back home. I stopped for a cheese steak from Pat’s, bought some fish food next door, then returned home for a nice lazy afternoon… and evening. OH, I did laundry too… should be dry now, so I am going to go get that (three stories down, then back up… I hate living on the top floor) then go to bed.
I was happy to see the roads were not that bad. This snow was more slushy then last weeks, but not as much of it. Plus, the city was more prepared for it, and the drivers had gotten accustomed to it.
If 2007 is anything like this year, we should just have two more months of winter, then it will be summer again! YAY for Denver weather!
I take it back. In a related note, the Public Service Company of New Mexico, always finding new ways to serve their customers, has set up an email address to which we can report power outages.
We shoveled snow today. Then we shoveled more snow. And we looked out at approximately 5-minute intervals to say, “I think it’s tapering off”. Tomorrow, I think we’ll build a snowman. And maybe shovel more snow. Whee!
