So...About this Pregnancy-gate Thing*

Did Sarah Palin fake pregnancy?
OK, I’ll admit it…this had completely flown over my head although it’s been around awhile, probably because I try to avoid hearing or reading anything about the moose-huntin’ mama (she’s bad for my blood pressure). Suddenly I read on the SDMB that rumor has it that she either A) got pregnant by one of her staffers and kept it hidden or B) more likely faked the pregnancy to cover for her daughter, whose child it actually was.

Now, having read the blogs and scandle-sheets I have to say the Palin-truthers have actually made a pretty good case that something funny was going on. I don’t think I’m just saying that because I can’t stand that woman…I couldn’t stand G.W. Bush either but I never thought the 9-11 truthers had any credibility. Never been a conspiracy type, but somehow this one kinda rings true.

So…some thoughts, please, from the thoughtful erudite intelligent types on the SDMB. Was there a cover-up? If so, what, when and why? A couple of thoughts come to mind…

Even for a god-and-country, family values-type politician it seems to be going to ridiculous lengths to cover up a teenage daughters pregnancy. It’s so commonplace as to be unremarkable. And howinheck, if Trig was actually Bristol’s baby, could a girl go out and accidentally catch pregnant again within a few weeks of having the first baby? Even for the likes of Bristol, that seems a bit much.

My own unfair, ad hominium, ad hoc, and thoroughly unfounded theory is that if, in fact there is some kind of skulduggery going on there’s got to be something more sinister behind it than young love and an accidental teen pregnancy or two. Maybe the “first dude” did some incestous diddling?..he seems to be neanderthal enough to be the type. Was Sarah impregnated by aliens? immaculate conception anyone??

What say ye, dopers?

*mods, if you find this post sufficiently unsavory to be pitted or otherwise removed I fully understand. Heck, I find it pretty unsavory myself. But I had to ask.

Hello 2008.

Yea, I can’t remember the details, but IIRC you have to believe Bristol has a really short turn around time for unplanned pregnancies to believe that both kids are hers.

Googling, kid1 was born in April, kid2 was born in December. I guess thats not totally impossible, but its pretty close.

Not to mention Trig’s Down syndrome. It’s hardly proof-positive, but it’s much more likely in a child born to an older mother.

First GQ question, huh?

She says she didn’t, and I have no evidence to the contrary.

I know, I know. Sometimes the news is a little slow to reach us out here in the sticks. But honestly, this is the first I’d heard about it. I don’t follow celebrity gossip, or listen to talk radio or hang out with conspiracy buffs. And most of the people I know think the Palins walk on water - wouldn’t dream of repeating an unsavory rumor about them. And I’m intrigued.

As much as I dislike Palin, I find it hard to believe. However, I think those who beat this particular drum are missing a particularly damning thing that they SHOULD be focusing on - how a woman in beginning stages of labor with a special needs child would be allowed to get on a plane to fly from Texas to Alaska just to give birth in her hometown (cite). I’m not a doctor, but to me that sounds incredibly irresponsible. I know the doctor gave it an okay, but how much of that was under objection?

I’m not sure that this is right for GQ, but the story was weird. As I remember, she was in Texas for a meeting and either her water broke or her amniotic fluid started to leak and she showed other signs of early labor. So she took a commercial Alaska Airlines flight to Anchorage via Seattle and then drove an hour to a hospital in Wasilla. I’d think that most women would have gone to a local hospital.

To sum up, there was a rumor at the time that the pregnancy was a cover-up for her daughter (such things have certainly been known to have happened), but those rumors were unambiguously proven untrue by, among other things, the revelation of Bristol’s actual pregnancy.

I demand a birth certificate! Failing to produce one is proof that Trig or Trip or Tron or Trunk or Taps or Tink or whatever that kid’s name is, is not Sarah Palin’s baby!

(turnabout is fair play, right?)

My EVE buddy CC has a stepdaughter that got knocked up again 3 months after popping out the last one …

He agreed with me that she really needs to comprehend birth control, but her mum didn’t seem to give a care about disciplining her when she was a kid, and apparently doesn’t mind that her daughter is a round heeled chavette.

Yea, but even if kid2 was premature, Bristol would’ve had to get knocked up even faster then your friends step-daughter. Like within a week or two. While I guess there are occasional exceptions, most woman can’t get pregnant that fast after giving birth, even if they hop right back into the unprotected sex.
