Shit, I was drawn into a tangent opposite my OP. self-flogging
Hey that’s cool. You can google “electoral college” and post a link entitled “How the electoral college works” which happens to be the second link listed for that particular search. Kudos for avoiding the actual question and using the cop-out route!

How about my friends life?
Marines Special Forces Recon (well that’s not the proper name for what he was in but that’s how I always remember it for some reason) He was planning on a career in the Marines but gave it up after some of the things he did in Iraq. This is a man that has spent 8 years serving his country. He went through Croatia, Somalia, and Afghanistan but always felt in the end he was there and his life was being risked for a reason. After Iraq he has lost all faith that anything makes sense anymore. His best friend was blown up in a grenade attack while searching for weapons of mass destruction that weren’t there. Another friend was killed when someone popped out of a crowd shot at his unit and vanished back into the crowd because they were there rebuilding a country that we shouldn’t have gone to to begin with.
So…this good enough of a reason to hate Bush and his policy of doing whatever the hell he wants?
-
I am making less money today than I was four years ago.
-
The security of my family is placed at increased risk, due to his policies increasing the number of anti-American terrorists worldwide.
-
My son is being saddled with a $500 billion deficit.
-
Gas has hit $2.09 a gallon here. 'nuff said.
-
I am feeling increased stress over concerns for supporting my family if I should lose my job for whatever reason, a concern I did not have four years and three million more jobs ago.
-
I am distraught that my government is using the “war on terror” as a propaganda smokescreen to impose all sorts of abuses on the citizenry, from calling dissenters “unpatriotic” to reserving the right to imprison citizens indefinitely(!) without cause(!!!).
-
I am shamed that my government lied through its teeth to start a “pre-emptive” war against a nation that posed no threat to us, killing over 10,000 civilians in the process of securing its oil reserves.
-
I am bothered that I’m living in a nation with people as idiotic as duffer, whose OP shows no comprehension of the issues, no concerns beyond his immediate vicinity, and no capacity for independent thought beyond what the White House dishes out.
If you’re not outraged
you’re not paying attention.
well, I didn’t google it, and it’s listed second there because it’s the second link… Now go away until you can come up with something better. Dipshit.
Ever heard of ask.com? A site not corrupted by ads? Ass-Clown
Hey, no problem. Although for all the good it’ll do, we might as well have both saved ourselves the effort. Because duffer, in his typical fashion, will completely ignore posts that refute the stupendous feats of illogic he performs. I’ve seen it before from this guy: he says something stupid, someone refutes it, and he goes on to the next thing, without ever acknowledging that his moronic ideas are shot down like cardboard ducks in a two-bit carnival shooting gallery just as fast as he can make them. It would be amusing if that sort of attitude didn’t have such scary real-life consequences.
My, what a clever boy you are. So you didn’t use google and post the second link, you used Jeeves and posted the third link. Brilliant!

Uh, thanks. Believe it or not, I’d managed to find this all by myself before I asked the question.
I guess I was looking for something more concise and anecdotal. I’ll look elsewhere.

Um…what the fuck?
Care to elaborate on that, idiot?
“What has he done for YOU personally?”
That’s right, what has he done for ME? ME!!! I only care about ME ME ME! To ME, other people don’t matter. I never ever worry about people who are:
[ul]
[li]poor[/li][li]unemployed[/li][li]without health care[/li][li]veterans[/li][li]soldiers[/li][li]families of soldiers[/li][li]Iraqi[/li][li]women who worry about their reproductive rights should a lame-duck president get to put another Justice on the SCOTUS[/li][li]disenfranchised (especially blacks and ex-cons)[/li][li]children who are gonna inherit Bush’s massive debt[/li][li]parents of children who are gonna inherit Bush’s massive debt [/li][li]patients with illnesses that could be helped by stem cell research[/li][li]gays (especially if they want to get married!)[/li][li]protesters who want to complain against the administration without being called traitors[/li][li]Government officials who say things that the president doesn’t like[/li][li]CIA agents who have their lives endangered because their husbands say things the president doesn’t like[/li][li]non-oil executives[/li][li]non-NRA-members[/li][li]did I mention gays? Hm, I did. Okay, how about U.S. customer service representatives whose jobs are now being taken overseas?[/li][li]someone who’d like to be able to communicate with customer service representatives but can’t adequately express themselves to or understand the English of the overworked Indian representative surprisingly named “Chip” [/li][li]someone who wants to live in a country that isn’t hated and despised by the majority of the world for invading a sovereign nation[/li][li]someone who wants to live in a nation where the president doesn’t lie in order to send our young off to die so that he and his cronies can get rich on oil contracts[/li][li]someone who died on 9-11[/li][li]relatives of someone who died on 9-11[/li][li]friends of someone who died on 9-11[/li][li]someone who lives in the same fucking country as someone who died on 9-11[/li][li]drinkers of water[/li][li]breathers of air[/li][/ul]
Whew! Thank GOD I’m not one of THOSE, and can focus only on my own little life and things that directly affect ME and my all-important wallet. Well, except I do live in the U.S. New York City, to be precise. Couple miles away from a crater that quite possibly could’ve been prevented if Bush’s administration had decided to pay attention to the many warnings sent along from Clinton officials regarding an impending al Qaeda attack, and perhaps if Bush hadn’t chosen to take a MONTH LONG VACATION in his first fucking year of his presidency, and then fucking sat and read to a bunch of kids even after knowing that his country was under attack.
But those people who died, well, they weren’t ME. I can dance a jig on the cement lying over the remnants of their mass grave. Especially 'cause I’m SOOO much safer! Yeah, I still get a tremor of fear when I hear a low-flying plane. But we ARE much safer! I mean, we – uh, the Kurds, that is – caught Saddam Hussein! He was linked with al Qaed-- well, we THOUGHT he was link-- he LOOKED like he MIGHT have been – oh fuckit, he was a bad bad man, so it’s good he’s caught. So what if I’m now possibly more at RISK thanks to pissing off the majority of the world by invading a sovereign nation?
Most importantly, I’m a kabillion times richer! Why, I got $300 back in taxes! WOOHOOOOO! Admittedly I’m also looking for a job, which is kind of a problem since there are, like, not so many new, good jobs available. I guess if I was willing to move to India to be a customer service rep I’d have a better shot. Oh, I know, I could go work at McDonald’s, which according to BushCo. is a hifalutin’ manufacturing job! Manufacturers, they make tons of money, don’t they? I bet this means Bush’ll fight to raise the minimum wage so that McDonald’s workers earn as much as workers in a car factory.
Um … aside from that stuff, I still consider myself infinitely better off. (How, you may ask? Well, personally I find that it helps to be blind, deaf, and dumb when it comes to other people. Also? Ignorance is good. Xenophobia, that’s a real boon. Being independently wealthy sure never hurt, LOL, and owning lots and lots of stock in Halliburton, Bechtel, Brown & Root, and any other company connected to Bush and his administration. Narrowmindedness and fear about non-missionary position, non-hetero sex are two nmust-haves as well. Hypocrisy? HELL yeah, bring it on! But none of that tolerating other cultures, thinking about future generations, or caring about the environment/other living creatures crapola. It’s all for sissies, 'far as I’m concerned.)
More Dubya? Bring it on!
In all seriousness: Two of the biggest ways that Bush has directly affected me?
- Four years ago I looked forward to the future. Today I fear it.
- Four years ago I was proud to live in America. Today I am ashamed.
The only good thing Bush will do for me is when he finally leaves the office he has defiled and goes off to finish the rest of his greedy, ignorant life in the ignominy he truly deserves.
I reckon you’re just seeing some “scary real-life consequences”.
Read the Op. I was asking what the … oh fuck it. There’s just no chance of getting you to think. Or read
Uh, you asked me to acknowledge, and I did. What more do you want?
“Go away kid, you bother me” - W.C. Fields
So I guess my post wasn’t personal enough either to meet his criteria. After all my friend’s pain and mental agony isn’t my personal problem. Oh well.
and for the record I was responding to the first part of the post because I have never inferred that Bush is a Nazi nor do I intend to so I have nothing to reply to for that part
An explanation, probably. Maybe a rationale?
Guess I missed the part where you were asked to ‘acknowledge’. I thought the response said something like ‘care to explain’.

Oh, nothing. Nothing at all. No sense trying to discredit someone when they’re doing such a fine job of it all on their own.
I have some bumperstickers for sale. They say:
“I have no brain and I vote”
Anyone wanna buy some?
When Bush was elected, I was a programmer, making good money, and with good benefits. I could affort to put some of that money into af 401k program and still have enough to indulge in things like vacations to England to visit my relatives. Today, I’m an administrative assistant, and I won’t get paid vacation or even sick leave until I’ve been with the company for a year. In the meantime, because of cuts in Federal funding, bus service in my city has been cut back while fares have gone up. Gas prices have gone way up. My city is near bankrupt and is trying to double the parking tax, thanks to drops in Federal funding and their own stupidity.
The airmall at my local airport is losing business because no only ticketed passengers are allowed into that part of the terminal. This airmall was specifically built to encourage non-travellers to shop there as well as travellers. That may no longer affect me personally since I can no longer afford to travel. The cut in my income and the increase in gas prices has eaten up the tax break I got, including the $300 refund.
When Clinton was in office, we had a paper surplus, and I was starting to think there might actually be a genuine surplus at some point, one which did not count money set aside for Social Security as funds available to be spent. Now, with the record budget deficits caused by Bush’s tax cut, I am back to being aware that I stand to get little or nothing for Social Security. I live pretty frugally, but right now I’m back to the Generation X retirement plan: work until you die; die fast.
As for the war in Iraq, by invading another country on false pretenses, I believe we’ve made things more dangerous for Americans, rather than less. It’s now that much easier for the likes of Osama Bin Laden and other radical mullahs to depict the United States as a monstrosity bent on destroying Islam.
Yes, there are people out there who heartily dislike Bush. Frankly, I’m one of them. The thing is, I have also had to put up with a ton of garbage from people who heartily dislike Clinton. I’m an independent. I’m fed up with nasty campaigning from both parties, and from being governed by people who have no idea what it’s like to be trying to keep a roof over one’s head, food on one’s table, and maybe once in a while, take a vacation without worrying about where the money’s coming from. Clinton won twice. Get over it. Bush is the president we’ve got now, whether we like it or not. If you don’t like it, vote in November, and make damn sure it doesn’t happen again. Personally, I’d like to retire some time around my 70th year or so.
