I think Ukulele Ike trumped any answer I could give.
So I’ll just snigger for a while.

That’s an excellent question. I was so pissed when I was typing that yesterday I didn’t even think of it. I checked my mail and the last wedding gift we received from his family. There are stamps all over both from some official sounding U.S. inspector. According to the fiance, his mail from India wasn’t cut open until after 2001, and didn’t used to have more than a couple of stamps on it. So I would assume that it’s in the U.S. that it’s happening and in reaction to 9/11. I wonder if there’s someone I could ask about that, and if they’d have to kill me if they told me.
I can sort of see where you guys are coming from, although I don’t entirely agree. He can be an arrogant SOB sometimes, and I don’t agree with his politics. That said, your habit of following him around sniping at him at every opportunity does look pretty fucking immature to me.
Not to hijack the thread muchly, but as I recall, Shodan was the one who inserted himself into this thread as a Paragon of Reality and a Lover of Truth. I’m sure you can find his post on the second page somewhere over yonder.
The rest of us, boggled by the sheer insanity of this assertion, called him on it. How that constitutes “sniping” eludes me.
Sorry, I meant Scylla, not Shodan. Got my Esses confused there…
Either that, or you’re just plain cruel. Jury’s out.
I was talking about Desmostylus, not you. You made a subsantial response to Scylla, specifically addressing his post. I have no problem with that.
Desmo, on the other hand, simply chimed in with the equivalent of “Scylla sucks!” without contributing anything else. And this isn’t the first time he’s done that, by a long shot, or I wouldn’t have said anything. He does it all the time, and it reflects poorly on his maturity level, IMO.
Argue with him all you want, nothing wrong with that. But just popping in to call him names because one doesn’t like his politics is juvenile in the extreme.
Are you impugning my integrity and suggesting that that earlier post was anything other than the literal truth?
Well, you’re right. You caught me in a little fib. That earlier post of mine wasn’t exactly true. It was foolish of me to think I could slip it by you without your noticing.
Now that I’ve been caught, at least tell me what it was that gave me away.
Was it this part? "In the beginning when ignorance was being fought, the ignorant lefties flocked to this board to be educated and fulfilled at the feet of their rightful superiors, the Righties. It was like the Garden of Eden, and yea! Much ignorance was fought.
The Righties were wise and kind and gentle. They were benevolent and thoughtful with their lesser man, the ugly and stupid Lefties."
or was it this? "The Righties being wise and kind and benevolent they assumed that the Lefties would use such knowledge as they had used their knowledge, for the benefit of all.
But the green apples of truth and the sour cherries of fairness did not stomach well with the Lefties, and they did soil themselves with the shits and the squats and the runs of the fould diarhea of knee-jerk partisanship."
Tell me. What was it that tipped you off to my dissembling?
Top left. Above where it says “Member”.
How much do you know about The USA PATRIOT Act? Do you know how it affects surveillance and prosecution, not of terrorists, but with regard to criminal prosecution? If you would like to learn more, search for “USAPA” at eff.org, and maybe villagevoice.com.
Some other points to make about Bush include the fact that we had a balanced budget for the first time in years when he was appointed president. At this point, my 9-year-old son’s children will be footing the bill for the defecit he has created. How many jobs have been oustsourced overseas? Where are the infamous weapons of mass destruction which were used as a justification for this war? Is he a liar? How many soldiers in Iraq would like to take time out from the war to pursue their political campaigns, as he did during Viet Nam?
It’s called a stacked Supreme Court. He was appointed.
I guess the unnecessarily slaughter of thousands of civilians (not to mention 500+ American soldiers) doesn’t count for anything in your world unless you happen to be one of the victims.
One way my life has been affected is that I no longer have the right to due process under the law. I can be arrested at any time for any reason or no reason and thrown into jail without charges, without access to an attorney or to family and without any trial. That pisses me off just a little. Maybe your own snivelling servility to your overlord Bush supercedes any value you have for your own civil rights but I don’t share your complacency.
Bush also wants to deface my Constitution with a viscious, anti-gay hate amendment which affects many people I know personally in a very destructive way.
The shitbag economy speaks for itself.
The current SCOTUS can be called many things, and any number of them are unpleasant, but ‘stacked’ is not one of them. Its recent stance has even been, dare I say it, liberal (and the nation is a better place for it).
Actually, we haven’t heard from it in awhile. We’re speculating that it was just too depressed to report.
Which ones, exactly, by name? Before you answer, use the search engine to read the few hundred posts between jshore and myself discussing this. I think even he agrees at the end that while environmental legislation for clean air is not increasing to the level desired, it’s not getting worse or “rolling back”. And even in the finding of unconstitutionality of portions of the CAA by the Federal Court in Atlanta, that was done by a judge not appointed by Bush. Funny how he still gets the blame for that though.
So which exact legislation again was dismantled?
Hmmmm… Before 2000, I used to work 60 some hours a week and was barely able to make ends meet.
After 2000, I am working 80 hours biweekly and make several times what I used to. I am now what Democrats would consider “wealthy.”
Did Bush have anything to do with it?
Nope.
I helped vote Bush in, and now he scares the bejeezus outta me. However, I don’t want Kerry either.
Is there any hope?
