So... Darth Vader will return in Ep. VII. How d'ya think they'll do it?

According to this article, Darth Vader, Luke and Leia’s erstwhile father, will be resurrected in the next Star Wars movie. Since Vader was killed off in ROTJ and became one with the Force like Obi-Wan and Yoda, it seems to me as if his death was final. If he does return, how do you think it will happen? It occurs to me that Palpatine could have had a clone of Anakin made and some last holdouts in the Empire could have indoctrinated a hate for the New Republic into him. Or are there any more plausible explanations for his reappearance?

Surely it will as whatever spiritual entity Obi Wan was.
We have seen Vadar in that form thanks to editing.

Say what???

poorly

The fastest way from Point A to Point B is make him a clone. Another thought would be for someone other than Anakin to take up the Darth Vader mantle. Perhaps the original Vader’s grandson is seduced by the Dark Side and goes on an evil quest to become the next Vader.

But he turned back to the Light side and was seen not as Vader, but as Anakin Skywalker, first as Sebastian Shaw, then Hayden Christensen in the “enhanced” versions. What could turn him back to the Dark side?

“Luke, you’re my father.”

OK, so I misunderstood the meaning of “erstwhile.” So slap me with a wet trout or something.

A new Sith lord will tap into the legend of the most infamous and imposing Darth in history by appropriating his name and image.

A clone would be lame, as it was more environment than heredity that turned Anakin into Vader. But that’s probably more likely than my idea.

Wait a minute! No spoiler tag? How dare you!

Is it possible the new films will be additional prequels? Or stories set between ANH, ESB and ROTJ?

Don’t much care, so long as Jar Jar is dead.

Reboot to an alternate universe in which Vader is benevolent despot ruler of the galaxy? Darth Vader the Early years, between Ep 3 & 4?

No wait, Luke wakes up from a fever dream at the end of “Empire” and finds Episode 6 was all happening in his brain while under medication.

Episode 3.5 - The Rise of the Rebellion.

Didn’t they just find a script writer for this like, two days ago? I’m a little sceptical of any leaked plot details.

YES!

Ahem.

Sorry.

I think bringing him back is ridiculously stupid, but as long as they get James Earl Jones to do the voice again, I suppose I won’t care too much.

I suppose it could be done well, and considering that episodes 1-6 really have all been about him, it makes sense to continue his story, even though it seemed so damn final at the end of 6.

I’m much more excited to see old luke, leia, han and so forth.

When Vader was tossing Palpatine down the shaft, Palp used his powers to grab the dark side of Vader’s spirit and take it with him. The good half passed on to the spirit world, but the evil Vader half is still out there, waiting for a new body.

Actually, it might be even better if he had his arm and legs cut off and fell into molten lava, and came back in a bionic suit of armor.

Yeah, the source is “industry insiders,” which I have a feeling are the same insiders who said the Penguin and the Riddler were going to be in the Dark Knight Rises.

Which he found conveniently nearby in the person of that janitor…!
