Made reservations for the casual local buffet restaurant at 3 p.m. (that’s the second seating, when the food is gone, they close and the employees go home and have their own Thanksgiving.) Weather was nice! roads were great! … Daughter dropped out, wanted to eat with new boyfriend and his nice big family. That was fine with me as she wouldn’t be missing a thing…Mentally ill brother wouldn’t answer door at his group home for 20 minutes. Finally opened in, said he didn’t feel up to going. OK, sorry, maybe another day…Went to mother’s. Shovelled driveway and 2 sets of stairs (took 40 minutes),sprinkled what road salt I could find on stairs. Mom was not ready when I got there. An hour and a half mom was still not ready. Two hours later (3 p.m.) Mom was still not ready. (Mom is 82, has Lewy Body Dementia. Is pretty lucid most of the time and loves eating out, but simply is unable to process the concept of “time”.) We got there at 4 and there was still some food left on the buffet! We were the next to last customers to leave. Took Mom home, went to my own house and heated leftover turkey, etc. for husband (we had our Thanksgiving the night before). So…it pretty much stunk, as usual, but I have had MUCH worse. And the weather turned nice, so that was great.
