Kaio: Well, what’s the worst that can happen, eh?
(Aiee!)
Just bought it, and will try to bubble it up closer to the top of my reading stack!

Cool, thank you! I hope you like it, in that dreadful uneasy way.
I read it and can recommend it to anyone in need of a good mind-fuck.
Uh-oh: now I’m worried again… I don’t like mind-fucks…
I’ll read it in broad daylight, with other people in the house, with the windows open, and Vivaldi in the background. Can’t get scared with Vivaldi going, right? And a cat on my chest. No, better, a doggie!
I have confidence in you Trinopus! You can do it!
And really, there’s nothing better than a book, a blanket, and a cat, so by all means. The doggie can lie on your feet and growl at the monsters in the dark shadowy corners of the room.
It’s not that kind of scary, Trinopus. Not rar boo scary. More of an “eternal bleakness of the clouded mind” sort of darkness.
Read it! It’s a short novel, and I can see the “mind-fuck” aspects. It’s “classical horror” in that it uses certain classically familiar motifs. It’s a kind of “horror of manners,” in that it is mostly about the characters’ interacting.
If I were to find any fault in it, it is that the antagonist didn’t really do a very good job of it. I don’t want to give anything away, but the bad guy seems to have missed several tricks. For a “smart villain” kind of guy, his approach seems to have been kinda dumb.
(If he’d been totally honest and explained everything right from the get-go, things might have worked out differently! But villains never seem to do this!)
The writing style was excellent: good, strong, clear narrative and comfortable, believable dialogue. Since those are the hardest things to do in a story, you, as a writer, are on secure ground for the rest of your professional career! And I’ll go and say something nice on Amazon, too!
Congratulations! Always great to see a local lad make good!
Congrats! Next up on my kindle.
Trinopus: Yay! I’m so glad you liked it. And thank you kindly for the reviews here and on Amazon.
kayaker: Enjoy!
The layout for the paperback is in progress, so we Luddites can read it too.
I should have a proof by next week. Yay!
