So, I’m reading a gay comic . . .

. . . and I’m pretty into it.
Nothing startling with that I guess, but for someone who’s only recently shaken of the shackles of a misguided obligation to bigotry, I’d like to think it represents a positive step.
It’s certainly not something I could have imagined myself doing just a couple of years ago.

The comic is titled The Young Protectors.
It’s not porny in any way, but the page may include ads that are probably NSFW, unless your boss is cool with pictures of mesh-shirted bears getting hot and heavy with each other.

The main part of the story thus far deals with the seduction of the protagonist by an older man. This is what really fascinated me about the comic because it seems (to me) to present the seduction in such an engaging and convincing way. The comic is sometimes a bit corny, but the characters are very engaging and it’s got some solid writing.
The artwork isn’t all that great and sometimes takes a dive into the uncanny valley, but the artist generally succeeds in expressing a variety of emotions, often with refreshing subtlety. They human quality of the characters is one of its biggest strengths, so in that regard I think the art actually suits it quite well.

I discovered the comic through ads on Girls with Slingshots, which I got into a while back via links on Shortpacked and Dumbing of Age.

I mention these comics (which I know many of you follow) because I feel they have helped me to become comfortable accepting that gay relations are natural and fine and nothing to get squicked out about. I think these are good examples of how comics can change someone’s perspective on gay relations by simply showing them in a positive light without being preachy.

Any way . . . anyone else familiar with this comic? I think it’s worth checking out.
Are there any comics that have helped to change your feelings or ideas about something?

Wow. That’s a REALLY good comic! I burned through the whole thing in about an hour. Bookmarking to my Comics bookmark folder to follow.

Glad you liked it!

I do wish it would update more frequently, but that’s just because I’m so interested in seeing where the story goes and how the conflict resolves.
