So I married a teenage Dubdope thread: or Dubdope2000:the Tart with the Cart

The more the merrier, as far as I’m concerned. If we have enough we could arrange something properly. If I may suggest the exceedingly good priced Mongolian Barbecue, but I’m not too sure if they do a good vegetarian menu.

Coldfire and I will make it to the Odean about 8/9 depending on his plane arriving on time.

Duke told me when he was getting in but superbrain that I am, I deleted the mail

So Dukey let me know again and we’ll sort something out.

I’m meant to be working till 7pm that night but I’ll probably get off early and meet Coldfire in the airport. He’ll probably be lost without trams and bikes around him.
Mongolian Barbecue rocks btw.

I’m here. Geez, a lot happens on the drive to work.

My wife and I would be glad to join you all for dinner. 7pm at your hostel on the 12th correct? Just tell me where it is. Yeeha!

And don’t worry, we won’t be too smoochy.

Only 10 more days till I leave the country.

Yojimbo,

Although I would appreciate you meeting me at the airport (theoretically at 19:20 local time, if memory serves me right), I’m sure I will manage to find the town center, and quite possibly your house. I’ll just praise every cabbie I meet on the wonderful achievements of the Irish football team, especially against the bloody Dutch! All will be done in zee most cunfincink Gurmen exent pozzeebul, of cors

What time is Norman landing, BTW?

The giant hedgehog checks in:

If all goes well, British Midlands will deliver me to Dublin at 12:10 (No, I did NOT read the date by mistake).

I guess I’ll just do a little sightseeing on my own and freshen up a bit before the charming lady Dopers arrive at the hostel

Who wanted a St. Pauli shirt ? - and what size/design should I be looking for ?

S. Norman

Coldfire, just remember: never judge a country by its taxi drivers.

That was me! Thank you Norman

The shirt that’s got brown and white stripes (I think it’s the home kit?) would be fine … if they still have any that are solid brown that would be even better … I’m not too picky  I don’t know what the sizes are like over there but in British shirts I take a youth size (86-91 cm’s) - or if that doesn’t exist whatever the smallest adult male size is.

Of course if it’s a really big hassle don’t worry about it!

Dang, I must have missed something about this.

If you get the Corr sisters, I’m definitely coming.
If not:

  • can I come?
  • where are you meeting?

Actually I’m stuck at work, but it would still be great to meet y’all (what do you mean I’m becoming Americanised?)

Oh Glee, do come! The big meeting is Thurday, 12 October, but a bunch of us will be wandering around Dublin Friday - Saturday. The first official thread is here:

http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=37251

Hope to see ya!

glee, aren’t you in Scotland or something? Small hop! Even I have to travel further. Farther, too!

So get your arse to Dublin. You KNOW you want to!

yojimbo–the reason you don’t know when I’m getting in is because I don’t know when I’m getting in. I’m going to have to check bus times and such. I’ll let you know soon. I’m planning to take the Friday off of work, and if I get in early on Friday I’ll just wander around town.

I’ve already been eating chips to raise my chip tolerance. Tomorrow, booze.

PS Hey Dublin-based Dopers! Help me out on an address question. When writing a letter to Dublin from abroad, is it necessary to add “Co Dublin” to the address? It would save me an awful lot of hassle here at the Development Office if the answer is no.

Sorry to say it would be better if you put Dublin( A extra line with Co. Dublin is not really needed if that’s what you mean) on it, many street names are the same in different towns/cities.

Friday? Do you mean Thurs? Doesn’t really matter but if it is Fri. I’ll be at home nursing a hangover from the night before so you don’t need to hang around the city if you don’t want to.

Coldfire I know you’re perfectly capable of finding your way arond but any excuse to get off work is a good one IMO.

And maybe it’s better. See, as I will be coming in late, it may be best if I start getting shitfaced on the plane already. I just need to be a little sober in Manchester to get the connecting flight, but in Dublin I think falling down the customs booth shouting “Where’s Yo-Jim-Boooowwww??” is probably gonna get me just where I wanna be.

It’ll save me the trouble of having to try and get to speed with these Canadians and Americans and Danes, already in action all afternoon.

Coldie, I think he prefers to be called Yo! Jimbo, think Sylvester Stallone when you pronounce it.

Here is a link for the Hostel where the creme de la creme of the DubDopers will be saying. Right now, I think the plan is for all the people who want to eat dinner together to meet there at 6:45-7:00 PM in the lobby.

Avalon House

That’s not a bad place at all.

FYI the Odean is beside the “E” in the horse of the “Bleeding Horse” on the map.

If it’s in Dublin City and you’re already putting “Dublin” as the city then you don’t need to also put “County Dublin”.

If it’s in County Dublin outside the city border then yes you do.

If the Address has a ZIP code, (eg “Dublin” and then a number) you dont have to put Co. Dublin.

This is going to be one hell of a good weekend…

We’ll talk about zip codes and mailing addresses all weekend long. Oooh baby!

Hey, attendees, let me know how many people are on your postcard list, so that I can buy the right amount of supplies. Prefably a week in advance so if I have to order them from the States, they’ll get here in time.

What day are we going to Yojimbo’s house?

Fri. or Sat. are cool. Whatever fits with everyone.

Will you be siteseeing with us, Yojimbo? I know we’re going to hit the Guinness Brewery & the Distiller’s Tour. Perhaps Friday or Saturday evening, so that we can have the afternoons free for touring? Mornings are for nursing our hangovers!
