So i'm high. Now I need a "stoned" playlist. What songs do you recommend?

Perhaps in Amsterdam you might also listen to Security by Peter Gabriel. (All those sounds were new in 1983. Digital was like alien technology.)

Dark side of the moon…While watching Wizard of Oz with the soung off…

No, really. Ah, maybe planetarium accountants.

Here’s 13 that might cut through the fog…

Sublime - Smoke Two Joints
Pink Floyd - See Emily Play
The Byrds - Born To Follow
Jim White - A Perfect Day To Chase Tornados
The Count Five - Psychotic Reaction
Camper Van Beethoven - Wasted
Ennio Morricone - Ecstasy of Gold
The Fugs - Nothing
Laurie Anderson - Sharkey’s Day
The Pretty Things - LSD
War - Low Rider
The Cramps - Voodoo Idol
XTC - Senses Working Overtime

Butthole Surfers- Electric Larryland

Bob Dylan- Everybody must get Stoned
Aerosmith- Sweet Emotion, Under My Skin, Dream On
Vestibules- Bulbous Bouffant

Judging by their playsists, I’ve just fallen in love with essvee and zenham (What would life be without peppy show tunes) with major crushes pending on Lucki charms, rtfirefly and MarieMarie. Maureen was in the running til she threw in Rush and my heart just sank…(sorry coldfire)

or even by their playLists…And I did preview

Aw shucks mam! (blushes furiously, kicks dirt)

Hooray for Hollywood - Doris Day
My way - Frank Sinatra
Having my baby - Paul Anka
The Rain in Spain - Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison
McArthur Park - Richard Harris
Ring of Fire – Johnny Cash
Puff the Magic Dragon – Peter, Paul, and Mary

and for when you’re really high
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds – William Shatner

Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun – Pink Floyd

Well, by that reckoning, I’ve just fallen in love with Beagle. What good news for him/her! :stuck_out_tongue:

SPOOFE, I’ve not heard much of Yello’s stuff, so I’d enjoy any other recommendations you’ve got. One other suggestion for listening to whilst stoned Danielle Dax’s cover of Tomorrow Never Knows. This song, along with the original Beatles tune should be required listening for anyone thinking about doing a cover tune of the Beatles or any other of the “supergroups.” If you can’t do it as well as Danielle Dax does, don’t even bother!

Not sure if this is good for a weed high, but The Who’s Baba O’Riley is great to put on repeat while laying on a floor and staring at a ceiling fan.

So I’ve heard.

Hey, that was the first one I thought of when I saw the OP.

Otherwise, Oxygene by Jean Michel Jarre, or Bolero (Ravel), or depending on just how stoned you are, something by Schoenberg. He’ll keep you entertained for ages.

Maybe some of the Gregorian chants, or what about those greenie things…you know, birdsong or whale noises with instrumental music…the Muzak of the new millenium. Some of them are pretty decent.

Failing all of the above, I’d check out FranticMad’s list. There’s some seriously cool songs in there!!

Bowie

The first song I listened to high was Pink Floyd’s “Breathe In the Air,” and it’s still a favorite for that purpose. You just kind of float on the notes. Quite something.

But yeah, lots of Floyd and Beatles stuff should get you on your way.

Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ** Bayou Country ** album, particularly “Graveyard Train.” All 8:37 of it.

I’m absolutely APPALLED that no one has recommended ANY Sublime song!

And then there’s the famous Dash Rip Rock song, Let’s Go Smoke Some Pot.

“Because I Got High”

I think the deal on “Champagne Supernova” isn’t just the “where were you when we were getting high” line. It’s also the pace and delivery of the song. The airplay version’s got that no-hurry, kind-of-out-of-it delivery that sure makes it sound like it’s being sung by a stoner.
