I have some fabric, and some ideas, but I need to know more about making ballgowns for ballroom dancing competitions. The dancing is for college competition, smooth I think. I really need information about how they are usually construted on the inside, like are there built in peticoats, bra cups etc. My sewing skills are up to par, I just need some details. I am having a devil of a time finding patterns. Note, I plan to make my own pattern, I just want to see how the inner dress is normally constructed.

The closest I can come to anything online for you tonight, lee, is this site to do with dancesport costumes. It would appear to have some detailed instructions. Hope this helps.
Thanks Ice Wolf. That site was helpful. Unfortunately she uses stretchy fabrics so there are different challenges. It still is a good start.
