So it all worked out well for me

As a follow-up to this mundane pointless post, I’m delighted to be able to post that it all worked out well for me. The 40-page thesis I mentioned in that post has been graded, and while a few points more would have been nice, I’m still satisfied with the result, especially seeing that many fellow students were treated rather badly by this procedure which I, incidentally, still think is arbitrary.

The six written exams from early March have been graded by now as well, and my results there were surprisingly good, more than I had expected for myself (I concede I was lucky about what they asked, though). There’s still an oral exam coming up next week, but the weighting with which this will affect the cumulative grade is, while not totally negligible, too low to seriously jeopardize the results from the written exams. Doing badly in this oral exam could cost me a point or so in the cumulative grade, but even then my result would still be respectable. I know I shouldn’t take this too lightly, but I can’t really motivate myself to study for this exam. I’m trying to.

The best thing about this is that I won’t have to sit again for the exam in fall, to get a better grade. In this case, I wouldn’t be able to take up my scholarship for Oxford, which would really be a pity. That way, however, I can relax (starting finally to REALLY relax after the oral exam), and head for the UK in fall. It couldn’t have turned out better for me!

Congrats! What are you studying?

Law.

Edit: Oh, and thanks for the congratulations, of course!
