Yes, it’s true. No longer will I set up a download before going to bed, coming back in the morning to find that it has timed out during the night. Never again will I be left out when people are sharing funny youtube clips.
Time Warner sent out a flyer on Road Runner Lite. Only 25.90 a month and five times faster than dial-up. That would be good enough for me, since there was some problem in my area that made dial-up run at about 30 kbs. I thought about signing up, then continued on with the old service until it got even slower.
I called Time Warner, having forgotten the name of the service, and believing that it was $26 per month.
Me: Hi, I’d like to sign up for your $26 a month Road Runner service
Time Warner Guy: Sorry, we don’t have a service for that price. Road Runner is 29.99 per month.
Me: Your company sent out a flyer about a three tiered internet service. I’m interested in the cheapest one.
TWG: Do you have the flyer?
Me: No, I’ll see if I can find it, and call back if I do.
TWG: We have a service for 25.90
Me: :dubious: That’s the one I want
TWG: The 29.99 service offers…
Me: No thanks, I want the one for 25.90
TWG: Your computer has to have a certain thing in order to use RR. An umm…
Me: Ethernet card?
TWG: Yea. Will you be paying by credit card or check?
So after all that, I finally got an appointment, and the guy came out and set everything set up. So far, so good, although I’m not looking forward to calling customer service again. It’ll actually be cheaper than dial-up, because the extra phone line can be cancelled.
Is there anything you’ve finally stopped procrastinating about, and finally gotten around do doing?
