My brother is a convicted felon (grand theft auto). He served his time, and has been a model citizen. The state of florida does not allow him to vote, however, they did give him custody of my half-sister. Go figure.
Why was she taken away from my father? Because he is a child fucker. That is what he has done, that is what he does, and that is what he will always do. The state of georgia will not prosecute him. Florida won’t prosecute him (most incidents occured in georgia) and he walk around a free man.
Did I mention folks love to leave their kids with him? He has the fun house. Always stuff going on, and it’s always kid friendly. When I lived with him, it was not uncommon for there to be 10-12 kids over for a sleep over. The youngest always got to sleep “in the big bed.”
THAT guy is known. Take comfort in that. Now worry about the child fucker that isn’t known.
I am now the mother of a 7 month old daughter. I need a babysitter. How in the world am I supposed to trust anyone to take care of her? They look like you. They look like me. They are “good with kids”
Let him live in a shack in the woods. Let him die. He won’t wake up screaming like I do. He won’t have to go through what I went through to have a healthy relationship through no fault of my own.
The day my brother told me I tried to steal my father from my mother was a day I will never forget.
Did I mention he was fucking me when I was 3 years old?
[QUOTE=holmes
Further we know that a good percentage of child molesters have been molested themselves. Perhaps that 50% who manage to change, are those who due to no fault of their own were turned into monsters and have managed to find their way back?
[/QUOTE]
I’m calling bullshit on this. Not on you, but on this whole “if you were molested, you will molest” bullshit. That is up there with the “pull out a grey hair and 3 more will grow back” bullshit.
MOST victims of molestation are females, yet overwhelmingly the number of child molesters are men. Plucking hair does not create new follicles, if it was true, every balding man would pluck their hair.
I am certain that is just a random factoid you haven’t thought much about.
What most people are missing in this whole discussion is the mental shift required to fuck a child. I don’t know about all child molesters, just my dear old dad. You see, everyone was for him to fuck. That is why we are here. It’s not about it being a child, it’s about the person being accessible. He saw nothing wrong at all with fucking children. Ask him, they dig it.
Most folks don’t kill people not because it’s illegal, but because it isn’t in their nature. It is in my fathers nature to fuck children. Laws against it are silly and meaningless and don’t apply to him. He’s already wrapped his head around a form of logic that allows fucking children to be okidoki, wrapping it around a few abstract laws? That’s a piece of cake.
Was he molested? I haven’t a clue. I don’t particularly care. No matter how often he molested me that will never, ever, ever, not even close give me a “golden ticket” to molest someone else. Please, please, please stop perpetuating this myth that those molested are those that molest. That just isn’t the case and causes years and years and years of therapy to undo.
I was told that over and over as a child. When I turned 18, I begged for a hysterectomy, so that I would never harm a child. Well, 18 years later, I am a mother, I have never desired to harm a child in any way. If anything, I have an overdeveloped “protect children” response.
Luckilly no one is saying that. You’ve got it backwards. It’s not that “if you were molested, you will molest.” It’s that if you molest, it is most likely that you were molested.
In other words, most molesters have a history of abuse in their childhood.
That does not mean most abused children grow up to be molesters.
It’s like the “all dogs have four legs” syllogism, kinda. No one is saying that your dog is your cat, even though both have four legs.
You are right, this adage is bullshit. The reverse, is also bullshit. What people don’t realize, is that nearly all the studies done on pedophiles and child molesters, are deeply flawed. Because, they only include people who are criminals, people who got CAUGHT fucking children. They don’t include the pedophiles who are smart enough to choose children who “think” that it’s a positive experience, and therefore don’t report it, or the pedos who don’t molest children at all, knowing full well the potential consequences of such a heinous act.
Regarding the “mental shift”, we’re talking two classes of people here: (1) Opportunists, and (2) Pedophiles.
Most cases of molestation – i.e. those committed by a parent, older relative, or person of authority (teacher, priest, little league coach, etc.) – are committed by people who are NOT typical pedophiles. The psychological definition of a pedophile is an adult whose PRIMARY attraction is children. Now, a lot of parents who molest their own children, do so because they see their children as property, and as easy access. That’s why nearly 100% of all molesters are men, because men are so sex-crazy all the time, if they can’t get their rocks off with someone appropriate (or even if they can) they will look for easier, more available targets, whether it’s the priest surrounded by altar boys, or the shepherd in the field who suddenly finds his ewes attractive.
Pedophilia, on the other hand, is a sexual identity. Nothing more. Clearly, it’s a deviant one, and a socially unacceptable one. But the mentality of a classic Pedophile is far different than a classic Rapist.
Was your father a pedophile, or just a rapist? Here’s how you can tell. If he molested you for only a short period of time – say, between 3 and 6 – then he is definitely a pedophile. (Especially if he’s spending time with other small children too, ones he does NOT have absolute authority over!) Now, if he molested you for your entire childhood, say from 3 to 17, and never showed any interest towards other children, then he’s probably not a pedophile at all, just a rapist who sees his own children as property and easy access.
Frankly, I see the “Rapist” mentality as far more deplorable than the Pedophile one (although, it’s kinda like saying, “Who is more evil: Osama bin Laden or Saddam Hussein?”) Any parent who ritually abuses his own children in that way…well, let’s say I’d eagerly get behind the death penalty for these people, if the law was written properly.
We’re straying very far from the topic here, though. Hey, wheelie – how did you find out about the gun? We’re still waiting for an answer!!
Yeah, they think that. But it’s not. The studies don’t back it up.
And that’s the problem. We say a person is “broken,” “nutty,” “inhuman,” etc. Yeah, right. People sometimes do evil things. The same people sometimes do good things. If this guy’s a “nut,” so’s everybody who ever blew money on a stripper, went to a prostitute, stalked someone, forced himself on a girl he was dating, had violent sex fantasies, is inconsiderate of women … in short, one way or another, almost everyone I knew in high school is as much a “nut.” We all start out ignorant of morality. We all have sexual urges. Some of us act on the more stupid & horrible ideas, some don’t.
But if society is going to brand every pedophile as unsalvageable, then we’d be more consistent to make the death penalty automatic & inevitable. The sad thing is, the social workers who are supposed to keep us from having to do that all seem to believe that it’s what we have to do.
OK, Diana, what would you do? If you were in the OP’s position, would you come to work with a gun & shoot him in the head?
Oy. Look, he’s on parole. (I would like to believe that he’s on parole for a reason, but hey, this is America, where prison is supposedly the solution for everything, so maybe they just needed the space for a non-violent drug offender on a mandatory minimum, or a serial killer in a non-death-penalty state.) But, hey, he’s on parole. For a “child rape” in a country where fondling a 14-year-old under the influence is just as much “child rape” as raping a 7-year-old at gunpoint, & likely to be exaggerated into such by the D. A. prosecuting the case, let alone the rumor mill.
I don’t, can’t, should* not*** trust the details of the case at all, because they’re practically sure to be exaggerated. It’s not the place of his coworkers to carry out their own sentence on him without knowing the whole truth.
Now, if it could be demonstrated that he willfully & soberly raped someone; & is fully unrepentant of it, & intends to do it again; & the courts don’t care, & are happy to let him run free; THEN it would be reasonable & just for his coworkers to extra-legally put a stop to his liberty, perhaps even his life. But I really expect that’s not the case.
OK, my last two posts were from before I got to the 2nd page. Apologies, wheelie, it looks like you have something more than rumor to go on. But you still don’t know the details.
Me, I believe that rape should be a capital offense. But not everything called “rape”, nor every case, must result in an execution. I also believe that prisoners should sort into 3 categories: those held for 7 years or less, those on death row, & those kept alive because they have useful information. I think sentences of more than 7 years are inhumane. And I bet none of you agree with me.
That’s the thing. We have a tension here between positive law & the ethical beliefs of much of the populace. In time, I hope, at least one of the 2 will change. If not, I think a dangerous seed is sown.
What if they find a way to fix it? Er…chemical castration, and the like? What then? I mean, we wouldn’t know they had the inclination until after the person has raped a child most likely.
It’s thought that alcoholism and some other mental diseases can’t really be controlled, right? What if you genuinely can’t control the urge? It happens once, you get caught, and you’re willing to be chemically castrated or whatever it takes to never do it again?
I’m not arguing on either side, here, please, so don’t jump on me. I’m just wondering if there isn’t some sort of compromise between the death penalty and unleashing them back out on the streets amongst our children?
But, from the thread linked to at the top of page three in this thread, QtM mentions that chemical castration is not 100% effective. (Scan down to post 14; my posting-fu is not with me tonight.) He doesn’t give numbers; it sounds like it works for a majority but not close to all. This is just my WAG, tho.
Oh, fuck you and your cites. I can provide a cite that says the Earth is flat, if you like.
If you really wanna know, put this into Google: “pedophilia” + “age of attraction”, or “pedophilia” +“AoA”. Be warned, just about all the hits will be personal websites of self-confessed pedophiles, and some may contain questionable material. But you can probably glean enough information from the summaries alone. Here’s an example, from a site called “Neomythic”:
If you require something a bit more scholarly, read the articles on pedophilia at Wikipedia and Reference.com, specifically the definitions of “ephebophilia” and “infantophilia”, and the age ranges they encompass.
No thanks. I’m not searching through a whole fucking library for whatever inspired you to make those claims. YOU make the assertions, YOU provide the backup.
I wouldn’t trade coworkers with you, but do you really expect the people who work in motorcycle shops to be normal?
In three years of working in shops, I worked with or knew:[ul][li]A guy who kept carving peepholes in the wall between the mens and womens bathrooms at a dealership[]A couple who almost gleefully destroyed their marriage through their speed addiction (to give one example, the wife tore the shop up over a vacuum cleaner)[]A manager that hit his kids in the parking lot[]The token ex convict, who was the quietest guy in the shops, though he had to get a ride to work and couldn’t do test rides[]A con man who was loved by the boss until he finally noticed the money pouring out the back doorAn entire shop full of rednecks who drank light beer after the shop closed so that they could continue working without getting drunk. FWIW, they ran a pretty decent shop.[/ul]Shop hijinks included hiding bikes on the roof and in the middle of traffic and making oxyacetylene bombs. This was just the Jap mechanics. The Harley dogs that I knew tended to either be totally insane or completely sober.[/li]
All of this happened a couple of decades ago. Maybe motorcycle people have quieted down since then.
