So let's assume the U.S. goes down the toilet bowl - which Anglo country do you move to?

ho. ly. crapola.
it’s real simple. The US goes down the toilet. You are one of the few who get to leave. Where do you go?

**You **are free to go anywhere you want, but for the purposes of this thread, you have to pretend you are a white person with no knowledge of any other language other than English.

At this point I am assuming that you’ll want to go somewhere where you wouldn’t have to struggle mightily to survive - some posters have already commented that picking up a functional command of another language isn’t a problem so they’d feel free to go to other places they would desire. That’s fine.

Would my post have made more sense if it said: which anglo country is best poised to survive a collapse of the US government and society?

christ, I really am beginning to see how some people can just read racism and prejudice into something when it is demonstrably (multiple times, by the by) not a racial and prejudicial question.

Well, I just think you phrased it kind of awkwardly. I’m just not sure why it’s so important that the hypothetical American’s skin color even be brought up to begin with.

to dispense with the “well i’m x-american, so i’ll just go back to x” posts, because i’m not interested in learning what ethnic composition every poster is as much as answering the aforementioned central question “what anglo country is best suited to survive…”

i figured if i asked it outright this thread would devolve into a debate thread about the quantitative metrics of each “replacement country” and completely ignore the subjective components to such analysis (like if there are any culture differences between say Aus and Canada that would matter to an American exile, etc.)

I understand what you’re getting at with your OP, but one thing to bear in mind is that a surprising number of people in “Other Countries” speak English extremely well.

For example, every single person I spoke to in Singapore, without exception, spoke fluent, clear English. Even in Malaysia, most of the people I spoke to could speak more than enough English for day to day conversations etc.

What makes the OP think that 400000000 people - only 20% of which have ever had a passport, would be welcome in these other countries BTW?

Or are we talking national vote and then a military invasion ?

As an aside - think NZ and probably Oz would be relatively unaffected by a US implosion. Might be on page 4 though.

I don’t support UHC but I support the teaching of evolution in schools.

I’d be interested in how you could have a problem with everyone having access to free medical treatment, but this is (admittedly) not the thread for that discussion…

The UK - but just because I like it the best. (Heck, why wait for an implosion? I’d move there now if I could get a visa.)

But again, that’s just personal preference - don’t know how to answer your second question (about which other Anglo country is best poised for survival) without knowing more about what caused the American implosion.

I’d say that if the US goes tits up that there probably wouldn’t be any safe place to run to. Not for several hundred million of us, anyway. Leaving aside the fact that if we went down we’d probably take down most ‘Anglo’ countries with us, I doubt that any but the wealthiest would be able to leave the burning wreckage.

Personally, I’m planning on giving the whole hunter gatherer thingy a try, in the event that the US is getting ready for the final plunge…

Like an awful lot of Americans, I’m of German descent. Why not Germany? Or if the issue is the English language, maybe Ireland? Or somewhere in Africa? Or even Hong Kong? Anglos got around.

Me, I’d lean toward New Zealand, South America (maybe Argentina), somewhere in Europe (Spain?), somewhere in the British Isles (maybe somewhere in the north of England), some ocean island like Bermuda, or somewhere in the Caribbean, in that order.

Maybe Canada, but B.C. will be full, won’t it?

Oh, who’m I kidding? I’ll stay here & form the Church of the Common Wheel in the new feudal chaos of disintegrated Yankea & Dixia.
