You know, I’d actually forgotten that a younger, more adolescent me proposed on this board that the most virulent nationalists on both sides of the Israel/Palestine dispute be walled in and left to kill each other. But even then, I wanted the people who just wanted to be left alone in peace to be able to get out.
I recognize now that that was adolescent raving on my part. I also recognize that nothing is that easy. The people who just want to be left alone are sometimes part of the problem.
I am resigned to the destruction of Israel not because I want it, but because I think it’s nigh-inevitable. I wish it weren’t. I actually have some fondness for the people of the state of Israel. I just think that the USA continuing to fund Israel, while Israel is on its present path, is sending good money after bad.

The sensible approach would be to push out the Knesset and replace it with iron-fisted administrative rule by China. That way, no one in Israel/Palestine would be more oppressed than anyone else and the whole area would calm the fuck down.

But even if it was somehow worse, there are significant differences between Obana’s election and Trump’s election. For example:

While I agree that this is true, what it fails to address is to what degree it existed as a percentage of the country’s white conservatives and Republicans. Surely in a country of 340 million people and 130 million or so voters, nothing whatsoever can be deduced from a handful of examples about how endemic racism actually is among those who vote Republican.
My own humble guess is that there are more people making false accusations of racism based on nothing but routine political opposition than there racists who oppose Obama and his presidency simply because he’s black.
