I’ve been telling my husband (jokingly, of course) that we are experiencing the first days of the new Ice Age.
This past(?) winter has been long and cold. Now, it seems it isn’t over.
Today is June 7th and I had to turn the heat on. It was 56ºF inside the house!. It snowed on Snoqualmie Pass a couple days ago.
Hubby has decided that he is going to mention my Ice Age theory at work. He thinks it will become a new urban ledgend, if given a little push.
So, does anyone agree with me? Are we witnessing the New Age of Ice?
I’m coming to your house to stay. It was freaking 98º and humid here today. Just awful. I hate summer. If it could be 56º every day of the year, I’d be happy. I love cooler weather.
After two weeks in New Orleans I was looking forward to the cool. But I’ve been cooped up all week with a nasty cold. This weather is much more comfortable than the hot humidity in The Big Sleazy.
It’s been hanging around 98°F everyday for three weeks down here. We probably won’t see a daytime high below 94°F again until October. Y’all enjoy your new ice age.
Skiing A Basin several weeks ago, we had 8+" overnight and 16 F that am. However, at between 11 and 13K, I’d suggest the key to any new ice age is elevation, elevation, elevation.
It was freezing last week. Piled on sweaters and turned heat up.
Today, it peaked over 90F in VERMONT. I never thought I’d wish for snow again. I hope it cools down to a livable temperature before I have to lug vans of heavy boxes next week.
We’re having the same sort of weather up here. Flowers are very slow to bloom this year, with the earliest bloomers still not out. We had about a week of decent sun, and now we’re back into 50s again, dropping into the low 40s at night. Can wooly mammoths be far behind?
I’m with ya. I was born in Texas- I lived all of my life there, and only moved to the PNW 4 years ago. I now live not too far away from Snoqualmie Pass (I live on the Sammamish Plateau).
Holy hell, I’m tired of this weather. Don’t get me wrong- after living in Texas for so many years, I really hate the heat… but I can’t stand the constant cold RAIN. I’m half surprised we haven’t gotten any snow lately.
Got 1" of snow last night at our house (11.2 k ft). June. heh. My Wife and I have an investment property of 40 acres at 9.6k. I think we will hang on to it for a while.
23 feet or so of snow so far this year. Sort of lost count. Gets to the point that it really doesn’t matter any more. I didn’t know that the Basin got 8"s, but I’m not surprised.
It will probably get up to the mid 60’s f here today, I’ll sit on the deck and read the paper. The blazing sun at this elevation makes up for low air temp. I’ll have to wear a hat. Maybe even put up the umbrella.
As for cool…brrrrrrrr. It was supposed to get down to 27F last night. Tonight…31F! And a high of 58F for today. It’s bright and sunny and pretty, but it’s June, and even in Idaho – in the mountains, even – it’s supposed to be summer dangit!
All I’d like is to see the last of last year’s snow on the mountains go away before it starts seriously snowing again this year, and at the rate we’re going, it ain’t gonna happen.
True, that, altitude can make a huge difference. I’m at 5800 feet, but *enipla beats me by far for altitude and sheer amount of snow. I can drive ten miles down the valley to the next town and it’s several degrees warmer, and it keeps going that way.
I should not have my heat on in June. It’s simply not right.
