So tomorrow's my birthday

and I’m going to be pretty busy ignoring what’s going on in DC and pretending I haven’t turned 68. (I swear I was 30-something just a few days ago.)

I was pleasantly surprised to find a giftie in my mailbox, along with

TWO, count 'em, TWO

letters from the local funeral homes asking me if I was interested in, among other things, prepaying for my funeral and choosing which cemetery I wanted to move into.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, I saw at the bottom of each letter words to the effect that the letters were a mass-mailing and if this was a bad time for you, sorry.:smack:

Just throw me into the woods with the bears and the bugs. ANYTHING but a funeral.

Happy birthday!

happy day!

mine’s on sat; and i. too. at 54, wonder how that happened!?!

what’s happening in DC this weekend?

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday and I admire your determination to enjoy the weekend.

Don’t think of it as getting older.

Think of it as ‘levelling up’, like in a video game!

And Happy Birthday! May heaven’s finest blessings, shower down upon you!

Happy Birthday!

Birthdays under a Trump administration: Where the phrase “Another year closer to death” becomes a source of comfort and well-wishes.

It’s going to be on all the Hallmark cards! It’ll be shouted out before cutting the cake!

“Another year closer to death!”
“Thank you! I’m looking forward to it!”
“Did you get your postcard from the funeral home?”
“Yes, it just came yesterday!”
“Congrats!”

Yep, I just celebrated 62 myself. I keep getting offers from AARP and credit card companies.

Remember the words of Satchel Paige: How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you were?

25 (and sticking to it) year old Annie-Xmas

Happy birthday!

Well, when I hit 70 I started getting hearing aid ads, and the dear old Neptune Society seems to have stepped up its solicitations. But Happy Birthday to you and hope you have as many more as you can enjoy.

It’s your birthday today already (here Downunder).

Happy birthday, much cake, much laughter, and mass-mailer thingies are great for lighting the fire to keep our arthritic bones warm.

Happy Lendervedder: You came this close to owing me a new laptop.:stuck_out_tongue:

Hermitian: Where do you find such perfect[ly gruesome] comics?

[Throws handfuls of glittery origami lucky stars to everybody.]

I did hide out yesterday, but I wasn’t completely idle. I binged on Judge Judy, made color charts for all my colored pencils, and rearranged all my markers and gel pens.

If you haven’t gotten the notice yet, AARP is offering a free backpack for joining up. I’m actually considering that backpack – there are two tiny old dogs at the Shelter and they’d probably fit nice and snug in the backpack when they get tired.

Not that I’ve decided to get them. I’m just going to check the website. 10 yr old Yorkie and his 15 yr old Toy Poodle. Lifetime buddies. Have to be adopted together. Nope. Just going to check. That’s all.:dubious:

[Scurries to basement to check on accumulated doggie stuff and making a shopping list.]

Not that I’ve decided to get them.

Well, make sure you post pictures of those doggies. From the shelter, of course. I’m sure they wan’t be in your house or anything like that.

Belated birthday wishes!

It sounds to me like you were very productive on your birthday. Congrats on your awesome level

Did you check to see if you have a suitable dog carrier in your basement? Not that you are going to use it to bring them home or anything, but its good to know that you could if you really were going to do such a thing.

(And before and after pics will be required, because I am sure that right now those little old doggies probably look pretty sad and scruffy. They will look like different dogs after they get some love in their last home.)

They do have that just shaved off the mats look. I’m still undecided. My last adoption was the cutest furball ever, but turned out to be deaf, half blind, with rotten teeth and chronic digestive issues. Sweet doggy but enormous vet bills.

The shelter bio on the little white toy poodle mix has been revised. He has vision loss and relies on the other dog to get around.

I think they’d be a lot of fun. I need a furkid around. Tomorrrow, if they’re still unadopted, I plan on visiting the shelter. Just to look, mind you, just to look.

flatlined, I don’t have a carrier but, after all, I’m only going to look.

Off to finally figure out how to link to a picture.

Thank you! I’m still celebrating. May keep on celebrating until next January.

oops, ignore, sorry
