So trumps message to the republicans is " is kneel and kiss my ass or else? "

Wow if I was a republican id be offended at what he said … I mean don’t they have a national committee and such? apparently, he doesn’t give a damn … he made remarks about not making a new party but he might as well have …

What happened to the Reagan or bush republicans who at least didn’t want a personality cult…

Donald Trump is self-centered and only cares about what benefits him.

Who is just figuring this out in 2021?

What did he say? A link would be nice.

I’ll settle for a summary - I really don’t care to hear that man speak anymore.

here’s the short version … it sounded like Germany in 33…
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-s-republican-hit-list-at-cpac-is-a-warning-shot-to-his-party/ar-BB1e60uF?li=BBorjTa&ocid=SK2DDHP

The Republicans that haven’t already folded will do so in the near future. Those Republicans, both here and elsewhere, who claim not to be part of this movement are trying to fool us…or are fooling themselves and are as relevant to their declared political persuasion as the Log Cabin Republicans.

While the attention was directed to whether he’d be running again, there was a strong note of king-making through the bits of the speech I saw. He individually named the Republicans who had voted to impeach, so don’t cross him or you’re dead. Given his flotilla of emerging legal troubles he’ll want to be able to emplace people who owe him and may be in a position to squash or crank down future prosecutions in a host of jurisdictions.

Did he acknowledge that anyone died on his watch, or is Biden so bad he killed half a million people just at the thought of being elected?

According to Trump nothing bad is ever his fault so of course he won’t mention the pandemic death toll.

While the continued adulation of trump simply boggles my mind-- I mean, an actual golden idol of trump at CPAC, WTF??-- there is a tiny glimmer of hope-- when they held a CPAC straw poll of who should run for prez in 2024, trump got ‘only’ 68% of the vote. Yeah, that’s a lot, but it’s also only 2/3 of a highly self-selected crowd of trumpers.

Four years from now we may be celebrating the Trump takeover and destruction of the Republican Party as far as national elections go. His personal history is one of failure at the substantive level. Until that time, however, this is a very dangerous period for the nation.

probably wants rematch with Biden. If Biden does not run trump probably runs any way

I read part of the c-span transcript (from the closed-captioning) of his cpaQ speech. That man sounds for all the world like Muhammad Saheed al-Sahaaf in full bullshit mode. “… Joe Biden has had the most disastrous first month of any president in modern history … In just one short month, we have gone from America First to America last … There is no better example than the new and horrible crisis on the southern border. We did such a good job. Nobody has ever seen like what we did …

The pastures should be quite fertile today.

This sounds terrifyingly familiar to me. Are you still celebrating the last time it happened?

I sw the article in this morning’s paper. My first impulse was to glance at it, to see what the asshole was up to. But I stopped as soon as I got to his name in the 1st paragraph, as I thought how nice it was to not have to think about that asshole recently.

I’ll pretty much ignore him until any time arises that I HAVE to pay attention to him. Hard to imagine how anything he says/does has positive results for the Repubs.

I understand the urge to ignore him, but to do so is dangerous given that he has fanatical followers willing to commit violence in his name.

I will agree with that in the future. It’s good to keep track. But, right now, the less importance we can give him, the weaker he becomes. If we can avoid making a big deal about this conference, and keeping it from becoming a huge news story everyone sees, it could really help stop the self-perpetuating machine.

I find it interesting that I had not yet heard the conference had actually happened outside of this forum. The only thing I’ve seen outside were people saying the bust was an idol.

MSNBC, at least, had coverage of it on both Thursday and Friday, and noted how much of it (not just the goofy gold statue) was fawning obsequience to Trump.

Adolf Hitler destroyed the Deutschnationale Volkspartei (DNVP, “German National People’s Party”), which was the inheritor of the Deutschkonservative Partei (DkP, “German Conservative Party”,essentially the Republican party of Imperial-era Germany); of course, it took a world war that shattered Europe and the resulting four-and-a-half-decade partition of Germany to accomplish that, so maybe not the best example to follow.

I’m still shocked so many Republicans are willing to ride this train driven by a sociopathic narcissist.

I mean trump will throw anyone away once they are no longer useful. what do these cult followers and apologists think will happen to them.

and I mean if all the people to worship, why him for God’s sake? I will never understand it. I mean I understand how trump makes their racism seem. justified, but why worship a dangerously stupid sociopath?

They must really wish they were like him. Which does not make any less weird.
