So we're at home today, trying to figure out exactly what is missing...

Just got a letter from the insurance people explaining the whole thing. They actually granted almost the entire claim but the deductible removed nearly a third of that.

Creep #1 has been picked up–for underage drinking. He’s also suspected of a string of break-ins invovling parked cars.

Woot!

Any chance he’ll roll over on the other(s)?

That would be nice. Even better would be if they could go after Creep #2’s girlfriend for receiving stolen property and get her to talk. Seems C2GF was bragging to a neighbor’s daughter about some of our missing CDs.

I wonder if **Bittiez **lives in your area?

Good question. That thread is what jogged my memory.

By the way, I find comfort in the fact that the creep(s) likely only saw a couple hundred–if even that much–from the take. Our insurance paid out a bit over $1300. At the rate they’re going, the creep(s) will only see that much at one time if they start dealing.
Oh, and get this: Creep #1’s sister took out a restraining order against Creep #2 for shooting her with an airsoft rifle.

While it sounds scary in theory, in practice lock bumping is incredibly difficult. Even after you master a lot of padlocks, deadbolts are still really damn hard, if not impossible, unless you have way more sophisticated tools. It’s much easier to simply find an open window or make an open window yourself.

(Although I will say never buy Masterlocks - they are always the locks that someone with no experience can open in the first few tries, regardless of what kind. Most other padlocks aren’t nearly as easy.)
