I’m in the same boat, though not everything was from the family. A lot was from friends and my girlfriend’s family, but nonetheless it is all just way too much. I haven’t had a christmas this good in probably a decade or more. In fact, scratch that, now that I see it all listed together, I’ve never had a christmas that even came close to this.
I got:
More gift certificates than you can shake a stick at, including
[ul][li]$60 to Barnes & Noble[/li][li]$100 to Basha’s (local grocery store)[/li][li]$100 to AJ’s (local very nice grocery store)[/li][li]$50 to AMC theatres + a couple free large popcorn coupons[/li][li]$25 to On the Border (Mexican restaurant)[/li][li]$100 in cash so far, and I expect more[/li]
[li]The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra Special Edition DVD[/li][li]America: The Book[/li][li]A 2005 Futurama calendar[/li][li]Two nice shirts from the GAP[/li][li]A pullover fleece[/li][li]Socks (yes, I was excited)[/li][li]Lots of candy[/li][li]A 2-year subscription to National Geographic Traveler[/li][li]Some portable excersize equipment[/li][li]A DVD game[/li][li]A bottle of rum (yo-ho-ho!)[/li][/ul]
I’m utterly flattered, flummoxed, and flabbergasted. It’s a huge honor to be thought about this much by this many people. I’m really feeling the “christmas spirit” and the Eric Cartmans of the world are right: it’s all about the presents.
No, seriously, I believe the thought counts and the fact that this many people thought this much of me, topped by all the cool shit I got, has me completely floored. It’s been a great year.
I was thinking the same thing, which is why I didn’t post my gifts last night.
HOWEVER!
I got:
[ul]
[li]A brand spanking new computer![/li][li]A nice bookshelf stereo system.[/li][li](In with the electronics category, I WON a 20" flat screen tv at my work Christmas party!)[/li][li]A heated foot massager thing.[/li][li]Alton Brown’s I’m Just Here For The Food: Food + Heat = Cooking[/li][li]A CD and a couple of DVDs[/li][li]Four or five other books, the names of which escape me momentarily.[/li][li]Some nice earrings, a bracelet, and a necklace.[/li][li]A wool peacoat, scarf and gloves.[/li][li]A ticket to see a comedian in Cleveland in January with my sister.[/li][li]A really nice framed picture of my sister, mom and me from a get together last month.[/li][li]Couple different perfumes, all of which I like![/li][li]Socks (Yes, I too was excited!)[/li][/ul]
I have a sneaking suspicion my little brother will send me just what I asked for - a pair of nice black leather gloves and a Navy sweatshirt. (Though I’d rather he just be home for the holidays, to be honest.)
All in all, it’s been a really wonderful Christmas and I feel totally spoiled.
Not that that was a ‘present’ as such; it just happened that it was past midnight.
Hey, you asked!
I have two presents under the living Christmas tree. My friend has two as well. I’ve put out two crackers, too. (I hope the damp environment hasn’t ruined their snaps!) I don’t know what one of my prezzies is, but I’m pretty sure the other one is a boxed set of paperbacks. At least it doesn’t make noise when shaken, like DVDs would.
From my Mama and Daddy I got-
A cell phone
A pair of soft comfy house shoes
A sweat shirt that says “All men are idiots and I married their king”
A pair of sweat pants
A baby doll ( A reminder of the days when I was little and always got a baby doll)
A pair of pj’s with dancing penguins on them
A t-shirt
From my sister I got-
A fighting Rabbi hand puppet
A monk bobble head for my car
A t-shirt that says “I saw your Mom on the internet”
A pack of American Chopper trading cards

A candle holder with butterflies on it
An autographed picture of my nephew complete with frame ( My favorite gift by far)
From myself (Otherwise known as presents from my husband) I got-
An Orlando Bloom calender
An American Chopper body pillow.
I got an IPod…YAHOOOOOO! I totally didn’t expect it. Soooooo, happy as evidenced by the many extra O’s in my words.
I also got a Baz Luhrman ( not sure on the spelling ) boxed set of DVDs.
I got doves a week or so ago from my sis but they were an X-mas present.
A faux fur pillow
NIce big headphones which I loveth.
I also got film and candy, etc in my stocking.
I got bunches of clothes, a Dept 56 Snow Village House, Gilmore Girls Season 1 (oops, Mom, already got that one!), one of the last items from our wedding registry - a dark red and orange throw blanket for our bedroom), and tons of angora socks from my mother (Mom, you KNOW I lose socks all the time - what were you THINKING?) from my parents.
The hubby and I set a limit on gifts this year of $50, which we both exceeded a bit. He got me a watch and the Spongebob Second Season (yay!). I got him a business card from eBay - but not just any business card - a Bennett Cerf business card for the Modern Library - the guy who was a panelist on What’s My Line for years and years. I spent a night not even MOVING from eBay to get this stuff - my husband LOVES this guy. I’d have given up every single one of my gifts for the look on his face:).
My husband conspired with my best friend to send pictures of him from Afghanistan! I have an 8x10 and 2 5x7’s on the mantle. They are AWESOME!
Hubby sent me a beautiful Evenstar Pendant that Arwen wore in the Lord of the Rings. It’s just beautiful and very fitting for us. He’s such a romantic!
I also got a patriotic ornament and flowers from hallmark.com.
The poor guy is 7000 miles away and he still manages to make me cry on Christmas. I love that man of mine.

A gift certificate to Staples (??? 'tis a mystery.)
A gift certificate to Borders (yes I got more than 1)
DVD of classic XMas animations.
A bottle of Merlot
2 Dilbert calendars. (Usually I get none and have to buy one myself.)
It’s a sign of my maturing that I actually asked for clothes. I’m 21 and beginning to go out to nice evening events so I needed something dressier than a t-shirt and jeans. Mom came through for me with a couple of shirts from the Gap (all “stress free” meaning they are anti-wrinkle and resistant to stains… something I must test in a little while.)
Other than clothes I also asked for a lot of books. All in all I’m walking away from this morning with 10 new books.
They also got me some DVDs but I have to exchange one of them. Mom didn’t realize the extended RotK comes only in the box set.
I’ve had a great Xmas, so far, and we haven’t even been to his parents yet:
DVDs Shaun of the Dead
The Blue Man Group Complex Rock Tour
South Park: Season 1
The Simpsons: Season 5
The Godfather box set
Looney Tunes Vol. 2
Spiderman 2
Other Stuff
A peppermint pig (very Hogfather!)
Assorted coffees basket
A standing wine opener from me mum**
I gave my bf all the CDs he had asked for (7 in all), plus Angels in America and Duran Duran Astronaut DVDs, plus a gag t-shirt and a stocking full of bath salts and gels (he really likes Body Shop).
I’m with spooje …I feel like Scrooge. But I worked yesterday, hafta work today, got Xmas Eve dinner ready and Xmas Day breakfast for hubby and kids. Kids have been very nice and they did get me a cookbook. Hubby got me nothing, has said nothing about the effort/work putting together a family holiday entails.
I bought ROTK EE for myself last week.
I am tired and feel under-appreciated. Sorry to hijack a very nice thread with my pity party.
Merry Christmas.

Things I got
From the husband:
A cordless mouse & keyboard. Now I can put my feet up on the chair and use my leg as a mousepad. heh.
Season 3 of Buffy on DVD
The Blondie Singles Box. Very very cool!
From parents/in-laws:
A huge bag of coconut date balls that my mom made. I’m gonna eat myself sick. [barf smiley] This aromatherapy/fog machine/light show thing. Weird, but kinda neat.
And these magneticconstruction sets. Which I think are for my kid, but he’s not as into them as his dad and I.
Things I gave
For the husband:
Two really nice sweaters
Jelly Bellies (only good flavors)
Tom Waits’ Real Gone
Pens
Insulated/travel coffee mug/thermos thing
For the kid (from me and his dad and Santa):
Somewhere around a million things. I think I went overboard.
I mean, obviously we will hafta talk about it, but I hafta go to work today, so maybe tomorrow.
He did say that he thought we weren’t exchanging gifts when I looked him a question-like where the hell is my gift look. Sure money is tight for us this year, but hell’s bell’s. I got him a rubber radio–from Target. He loves it (I don’t know why).
Kind of a shitty Christmas–I keep telling myself that my kids are all healthy and doing well in school, I have a job, I ahve a warm home and food on my table.
It still sucks.
sorry, carry on. Dont’ mean to drag anyone down. It’s snowing here and it’s really pretty out (cold as hell, but pretty!)
[ul]
[li]Sonic Mega Collection for Xbox[/li][li]NBA 2K5 for Xbox (I asked for NCAA 2K5 and got this, so this one will be exchanged)[/li][li]Three’s Company Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD (I’m a fan, what can I say? )[/li][li]A Texas Hold 'Em Poker set (now I just gotta get my friends onboard…)[/li][li]Some clothes[/li][li]A new watch[/li][/ul] Having come up with my Christmas list months ago, I was surprised to see several items omitted. Well, maybe not so surprised after all, but that’s an entirely different topic altogether. Won’t go there.
I’ve been focusing on watching my 4-year old open all his presents, and the past couple hours I’ve been putting stuff together and playing with him and his new toys. Man, I love the look of a child’s eyes on Christmas.
Still expecting something from the folks and in-laws. Most likely cash or gift certificates, which always work nicely.
