That is real Irish. “Ulster Scots” have been on Ireland for centuries (some before the Plantation)–and a substantial part of their ancestry is Gaels who came to Scotland from Ireland.
They sure have, but scotch-irish were “only” here for a century or so before upping sticks for greener pastures. Their cousins as you say, remain in Ireland to this day.
So… Corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots. And a slice of dried mango, a spear of dried papaya, and two Medjool dates. The SO is baking an apple pie, and there’s vanilla ice cream to go with it.
I went to the pub. With two actual people actually from actual Ireland. Born there and everything.
We drank and then we went home.
