So what universe would you live in?

Given a choice would you liver in the Star Trek Universe. Lets say its in TNG time. But you can;t be automatically in starfleet or a captainand you don’t live on earth. You’re under constant threat. You can possibly be a SF officer if the borg, romulans or whatever don’t get you. Keep in mind that the federation is really bad at any kind if defense or military action
*(IMO but as this is my thread I’ll say it…you have a really good chance of being borgified or becoing a klingon o romulan slave.) *

Or the **Star Wars **Universe at the time of the rebellion before the empire is defeated.

Or the firefly universe. The war is over but like Mal you’re a discontented browncoat. You have a ship and your friends can be part of your crew in this, but do you want to live there?

Or the Blake’s 7 universe. You’re not on the side of the evil federation but you have access to space travel and if you choose to you can be of great help to the rebels. (like Avon, who in the initial episodes looked out for himself but later became the Federation;'s greatest threat)

Or the **Babylon five **Universe. You don’t have to work on the B5 station but you will be caught up in the stuff that happened in the shows story arc.

Alternatively you can be in the **Lord of the Rings **Universe around the time of the Fellowship of the Ring.

What would you choose? If you wanted adventure in your life. I’ll admitr i’d lean heavily to trek but also the firefly universe. Trek characters are mostly robots and I would want my individuality. I can iidentify more with Mal on firefly than I can with Picard.

I’d probably opt for the TNG-verse. Seems to have the highest general standard of living. No poverty. No real need to work if you don’t wanna. Travel by transporter. Holodecks. Top notch medical care generally available. Chance for a Starfleet Commission would be cool.

LOTR-verse would suck if you were an average joe. Middle-ages conditions, no health care, limited magic, nothing really fun–unless you’re Gandalf or somebody.

B5-verse was pretty harsh, too. There was severe poverty and a thriving black market even on the station.

Star Wars-verse really never did much for me. Might reconsider if I could have a light saber or a smuggler-ship.

Dunno enough about Firefly/Serentity to comment. Ditto Blake’s 7-verse.

Star Trek:TNG for me, please. Nice, big universe. The Borg don’t get everywhere. High standard of living, great medical, holodecks…it’s all good. If you live on a backwater, but advanced planet, you’re in high cotton.

The alternative would be Firefly. Keep flying. Rougher, but maybe more satisfying, especially if my engineer/bunkwarmer is Kaylee!

I’m a country boy at heart. Keeping that in mind, I’d go with the Lord of the Rings universe every time. I’d probably miss modern comforts for a while but it’s a lifestyle I think I’d do just fine with.

Also, I’m not the biggest science fiction fan so i probably wouldn’t enjoy the rest listed.

Star Trek is definitely the most comfortable option, but I would say it also has the highest possibility of unexpected annihilation. Really, how often has there been some sort of space anomaly or experiment gone awry threatening to destroy the universe, only to be just barely averted by the crew of the Enterprise? I’d go to sleep every night expecting about a 20% chance that I won’t wake up and there’s not a damn thing I can do about it.

Then again, death by conventional means is far more likely in all the others, so I’ll still take it unless I can get a cushy, upper class life on some out of the way peaceful backwater in the Star Wars universe.

If I say the Pern universe will I actually end up on Pern, or might I end up, I dunno, some Nathi slave?

Seriously - peaceful and overall productive culture, no such thing as war, (though totalitarian holders do pop up from time to time,) decent shot of being found on Search and impressing a dragon. I’ll take it.

I’d go Star Trek, for the reasons mentioned. Of societies not listed, I’d go for the Culture.

the ‘verse, of course. I mean Zoë’s single again, after all. No doubt she could use some comfortin’ and I can be mighty comfortable, if ya know what I mean.

I’ll be in my bunk.

From the OP’s choices : Star Wars universe (as long as I didn’t live on Alderaan) - better space travel than Trek, droids - sure, it’s a dictatorship, but hey - speeders!

Otherwise, Firefly 'verse, but I’m generally law-abiding, so I see no reason to avoid the Inner Sphere. Or take Alliance jobs.
