Older sister - An optical mouse
Younger sister - Two big mamma jamma candles

Littlest Ringo (my almost 2 year old nephew) - pint-sized basketball, football and soccer ball
Youngest niece - a big bag of building blocks
Oldest niece - Two dolls meant to represent those teenage twin girls who make kid movies
Oldest nephew - a Lego Jurassic Park Spinosaurus Studio kit

Friends Mike and Pauline - a 1997 Stag’s Leap Chardonnay[sup]*[/sup]
On writing it down, it doesn’t appear that I did a lot of giving this year, and what I did give seems sort of boring.
The ex was going to get a bottle of perfume, but we didn’t manage to connect. She may still get it.
[sub]*I’m really not a wine snob; I let Vino, the proprietor of the local liquor store, pick 'em out.[/sub]
Mom – I found two cross-stitcheries in her cabinet that were never finished, took them out, finished and framed them. She was totally surprised. (They match her kitchen.) I had two more but I ran out of time to do them. She wasn’t bothered by it. I also got her & Dad a box of candy.
Dad – Hardcover crossword dictionary, a book of puzzles, and a bookmark/magnifier. I’ve been listening to him gripe about wanting a crossword dictionary every night for months.
Sister – A couple of nice photo albums, including one of those cool ones that sits on a tabletop and the pages flip over a big ring, and a small frame, and a notepad. She likes to take lots of pictures with her friends and she never has enough albums to store them all.
Brother – Spongebob Squarepants t-shirt and boxer shorts, and an Egyptian ornamental dagger I got for $6 on eBay, which I sewed to a black suede mat and mounted with red, gold and black mats in a nice shadowbox. (I’m a picture framer, can you tell?) He was suitably surprised and impressed. He does have a lot of swords he’s collected from gun shows and stuff, but I chose one like none of the others he has.
Grandparents – I framed prints of my “Trees” drawings in a nice matting and frame, and sent them to them a couple of months ago, because they usually get small gifts and I didn’t want to upstage everyone else when we were opening things. My parents gave them some clothes and a cake-dish at the official gift-exchange. They did tell me that they’d gotten a lot of compliments on them, though. They hung my drawings in their living room. :):)
Boyfriend – I can’t post it here, because he looks up and reads my posts when he gets bored, and hasn’t got it yet. It’s something very small, though, because he always complains when I buy him anything elaborate. I’ve found the best present I can get him is buying clothes for myself, since he seems to appreciate that more than anything else I’ve bought that went to him. At least that’s what I can tell from his reactions.
I didn’t get anything for my co-workers, except one friend who is really into anime. (I am but I have a hard time making the bf watch it, so I don’t really have anyone to watch it with now.) I was looking for a copy of a fandub/parody called Fast Food Freedom Fighters a couple of months ago, and when I found the guy that made it, I had him make me two copies because I thought my friend would like it too.
That’s about it. I was making a thank-you gift for the ladies at the post office, but I didn’t have time to finish it before Giftmas.
Dad : VHS tapes and a few boring personal items.
Mom: a purse and perfume.
Brother : Blue goo for pain relief.
SIL : small Mikasa candy dish.
Niece1: illusion necklace and perfume.
Niece2: Power bead bracelet and pencils.
Friend1: Trader Joe’s gift certificate.
Friend2: small ceramic bowl.
Friend3: insulated cooler bag.
Friend4: Yves Rocher gift set.

Cousin’s kid1: same as kid above.
Cousin’s kid2: reindeer plush backpack with pouch.
Secret Santa giftee : Monty Python killer rabbit plush toy.
Cousin: activated charcoal.
Grampa: Four boxes of Copenhagen. Don’t look at me like that. What do you give an 86-year-old widower, another tchotchke?
Sister: My deceased grandmother used to make Christmas ornaments - styrofoam shapes covered with ribbon and beads and glitter ‘n’ stuff. Sis dated a dick, for a while, and when the relationship ended her box of Christmas decorations “disappeared” Ended up in a Dumpster. I found a shop which produces the most incredible hand-blown ornaments - essentially clear glass, but with cool stripey colors. Sis got two.
Brother-in-law: HarleyBikerDude. Several years ago I gave him a scale model of the first ever HD and, since I’m of the uncreative sort, and since he doesn’t bitch too much, I’ve added to his collection. This year I picked up a reproduction of a tin toy at the Museum Company (the one with the three pistons that go up and down as the wheels move, for those in the know).
Brother: Aloha Stadium in Hawaii has an awesome flea market, and several years ago I bought him a Leatherman for about thirty bucks. He loved it. A lot. Used it all the time. But…at that time, he worked for a local electrician. While re-wiring a hog barn the Leatherman fell out of its sheath and into …well… the stuff UNDER the hogs. He decided not to retrieve it. I gave him a new one, with the “Last one I’m gonna buy you” caveat FIRMLY attached.
Mom ‘n’ dad: Sis and B-I-L bought them a DVD player. Mom got Amelie and dad got the DVD version of the first season of MASH*. And a page-a-day Jeopardy calendar (cos it would just be wrong to not give him one at this stage of the game).
Gramma ‘n’ grampa: 50 pounds of sunflower seeds for their birds.
Vanyel: Thank you so much for starting this. IMHO, the anticipation of seeing someone opening gifts is MUCH more important than the gifts received…even more so if he or she likes it
I got my wife the only things I could:
Fresh brewed coffee in the morning
Clean laundry
Dinner ready for her to eat
A nice footrub
Wow, Mr. Cynical. That’s great.
Fiance- Group of Seven calender, book of great classic children’s stories, foam sword (he’s already got lots of real ones, and he’s been bugging me about another one).
Mom- expensive soap, handmade peppermint candy, book.
Dad- cool mini flashlight, Tilley thermal indestructable socks, chocolate.
Friends- too much bloody stuff to wite about, and they haven’t opened them yet. Later, maybe.
Mom: Fuzzy pink socks (she always likes interesting socks for Christmas), a sweater in just her color.
Dad: Slippers. A couple of interesting ties – he’s a children’s dentist and likes wearing unique ties that the kids will like. One was Scooby Doo. The other was a Spongebob tie – it was called “Spongebob Squaretie” and was squared off at the bottom (rather than the usual pointy end). The kids will love it.
Mom and Dad (for both): A USB Zip drive for their computers (home and office).
Brother (and his wife): Some gardening stuff for their house (recently married – 1 year). An internal Zip drive for their computer.
Mum: A microsoft optical intellimouse (PS2/USB)
Her hubby: A 4-pack of Bundaberg Rum & Coke (Overproof) - he did ASK for this; it’s not like I just found something at the booze-shop and figured it’d do
Best friend: Jennifer Love-Hewitt’s latest CD. We had much fun taking the piss out of JLH’s bizarrely-shaped feet.
Max
Gave my mom Lush bath balls - after a 5way bypass she was just given the all clear last week to start showering and bathing again.
My nephew was given a couple computer programs to help him learn to read and help with his maths and the such.
Gave MIL a foofoo smelly bathset, a couple gardening books and 40 quid.
Hubby received LOTR expanded DVD, Smack Down: Shut Yer Gob, a Tom Petty cd, both Due South Soundtrack cds, a dremel dohicky, a sword, series 5-9 scriptook for Dad’s Army, a LOTR behind the scenes book, 20 quid gift voucher for WH Smith, and a very very special ring.
Grandmother: Earrings, necklace and some dehydrated fruit from Just Tomatoes!.
Mom and Dad: Gift set from Just Tomatoes!.
Brother: Subscription to Runner’s World
Sister-in-Law: Earrings from Red Envelope.
Nieces: Books by Max Lucado, including You Are Special.
Husband: Nothing yet… We’re going shopping for each other this weekend.
I gave my wife a U of Maine hockey sweater that I had autographed by John Tortorella (coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning and a Maine alum) and a sewing machine. We gave the teenager a Lightning sweater with with Khabibulin’s name and number on it and a couple of earrings. The teenager(13) gave mom the Holy Grail DVD and “The Silent Blade”; one of the few Drizzt books she sub[/sub] doesn’t own.
vivalostwages
Where does one get a Monty Python killer rabbit plush toy?? It would have gone great as a stocking stuffer to complement the DVD.
Pebs
Well, apart from the NORMAL presents, I like to shop at the local asian market for more… interesting gifts. I wrap’em nice and all my family and friends get to choose one, grab bag style. This year’s highlights: Fried Crucian Carp, Toddy Palm (truly gross looking), Phillipine Milkfish in oil, spanish style, and a canned meat product called “Assi”.
Sister: an Etta James CD, a jewelry box from World Market (that was originally unlined and I lined it with green velvet), feng shui candles, a book called The Spirituality of Imperfection and a fleece hat/scarf/glove set from Old Navy.
Mom: a subscription to Good Housekeeping, a travel hair dryer, and a Captain & Tenille <sp> CD. (Odd gifts, I know, but she had 'em on her list…)
Dad: a hands-free kit and car charger for his cellphone and a Best Buy gift card
Uncle: Nike running shoes (again, an odd Xmas gift, but it’s what he asked for)
Married-couple friends: Ice Age on DVD and the ‘Elv1s’ CD
Girlfriend: silver Tiffanys bracelet (worth many mondo brownie points!)
Gunslinger got a grey crushable fedora and a stainless steel 8-ounce hip flask.
My mother got a cow tchotchke, a marcasite bracelet and a foot massager.
My foster sister got a flower bulb so she can grow her own pink blossoms, and a pen shaped like a flamingo.
The baby got a tambourine.
My sister got a pair of frou-frou slippers (maribou-trimmed pinup bedroom heels).
My dad got a box of Armorall stuff to wash his truck.
My husband got a titanium-band watch - he loves watches.
Most of my gifts were gift cards and bottles of wine (nice tea or coffee for any teetotalers), plus quite a few people this Christmas got homemade jelly, homemade soap, or hand-stitched Christmas ornaments.
I got my Mom (Sapphyre Rose) a periwinkle blue sweater and a dark green-and-navy plaid fleece jacket. She absolutely loved the jacket – she had been looking for one just like it for about the last month.
My dad insisted he needed new clothes, so I got him a pair of jeans and a long-sleeved navy pullover.
My older sister got a pair of cranberry-colored jeans and a black sweater.
As for my chicken sib Pollo Boyo, he got a set of four mugs with cows depicted as famous artists: Picowso, Buttercelli, Moonet and Van Cow (complete with missing ear!). I also got him an adorable stuffed cow that he almost didn’t get because I wanted to keep it for myself. Did I mention he likes cows?
All the nieces and nephews got a T-shirt from my New Orleans trip. My older nephews also got checks, my older niece got earrings, my younger niece got various bath toys and stuffies, and my youngest nephew got a keyboard (joint gift between my sister and me).
My dad got a Galileo thermometer, a golf gadget, Band of Brothers videos, and some other gadget things I can’t remember.
My mom got a candle, a video and a trip to Italy with my sister and me.
My parents also got some Xmas ornaments from my cats and dog. I also get presents for my sister’s dog and bird, and she gets presents for my dog and cats. We write the animals names in the “From:” part of the tag. Yeah, it’s dumb and silly, but it’s fun.
My uncle got 3 books and a subscription to “The Onion.”
My sister got earrings, some Bath and Body Works stuff, and “A Hard Day’s Night” DVD.
My SIL (who I got in the grab bag) got an Elton John CD and some Bath and Body Works stuff.
I can’t tell you what I got the SO since he hasn’t gotten his presents yet (that’ll be tomorrow) and I’m pretty sure he reads the boards once in a while.
Mini2U received (from myself and Mr2U) a new bike (I think it’s this one but I’m not sure since Mr2U bought it - I just put the bow on it - http://www.schwinnbike.com/products/bikes_detail.php?id=185 ), the Yu-Gi-Oh Starter Deck - Kaiba, the Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets for GBA, the Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul gamve for GBA, a new winter coat, a hat to match, snow pants, a whole passel of new socks, and a day with mom making Christmas Cookies (hey - it was something he ASKED for!).
Mr2U got three pairs of sweats, a new long sleeve shirt (not a work shirt, a real shirt) a T-Shirt that says “Stop Reading my Shirt”, a Stereo Tuner (his big gift), his favorite candy, a set of beer mugs, “The Weber Big Book of Grilling”, and there was something else I can’t remember.
My mom got an Eli’s Cheesecake sampler sent FedEx.
My brother and his fiancee-well-she-will-be-soon got a huge Aromatherapy candle grouping and a 12 pack of Goose Island Christmas Ale (hey - something for everyone!) plus two free “you buy the paint and I’ll do the rooms for ya” rooms of new paint in the house they are buying (from Mr2U - I can’t paint.)
Those are the ones I bought - the other stuff was from Mr-n-me so I won’t bore everyone with the details.
Oh - and everyone got bread made in my new breadmaker. Whether they wanted it or not. I gave STRANGERS bread. There is no shortage of bread in the greater suburban Chicagoland area, trust me.
I don’t have any living grandparents, and we don’t do the extended family thing, so somehow I ended up only buying gifts for four people this year, which was a little strange after buying for more than 30 people last year due to the school party.
Mom: A water fountain with wind-chime thingy; an scented oil burner with a wizard and dragon holding up the dish; and a little Rudolph whose nose lights up. (she wouldn’t tell me what she wanted, so I went for “neat”)
Dad: Season one of 24 (for once I knew what he wanted!)
** Brother**: ** Beauty and the Beast** and ** Monsters Inc.** on DVD; Batman: The Complete History by Les Daniels. (big animation fan, can’t you tell? )
** Best Friend**: a blown glass reindeer ornament; Dept 56 Chinese New Years dragon. (she collects dragons of all sorts)
