Spent Christmas with SO and his family SO: Tiger Woods golf game; AoTC DVD; cosy fuzzy round-the-house pants; and a mug with penguins on it SO’s mother: gravy boat (plus share in presents from us jointly) SO’s father: book of plane crashes in the Lake District (plus share in presents from us jointly) SO’s aunt and her husband: bottle of vintage port
We’re travelling to see my parents on Sunday, and we will have gift-giving at New Years. Therefore, it’s likely that I’ll get a couple more presents in the sales. This is what I have so far.
Mother: Earthenware dishes, decorative, to go in living room; socks Father Denim oven glove Grandmother herbal toiletries gift set
My family gives fewer presents than my SO’s family.
SO: A set of six antique mahogany dining room chairs and the material to recover the seats (we’re building a house and she gave me the dining room table last year), three panty and bra sets from Victoria’s Secret, Diana Krall’s new CD, some Red perfume, a watch, and two coral necklaces.
Lilly, Queen of the Universe: Three Barbies, a bike and helmet, a chest filled with “dress up” stuff (clothes, scarves, gloves, hats, costume jewelry, etc.)
The folks: A gift certificate for dinner for two to their favorite restaurant (specific instructions: “Don’t get us anything, we have too many “things” as it is.”)
Bro. 1: “The Illustrated Rules of Golf” and a 12 pack of golf balls.
Bro. 2: “The Idiots Guide to Playing the Guitar” and an electronic guitar tuner.
My mom got a DVD set of the 1st season of 24. I’m also paying my cell phone bill this year (close to $300 this month!) myself, rather than her paying it like she’s done since I was 15
My sister got a Florida Gators visor. When I went to Tallahassee, the only thing she asked me to bring back was a jar of sunshine, and a black Gators visor. She’d seen someone in Boston wearing a black hat, and decided she needed one, but in visor form. Had no idea if said visor even existed. I got to Tallahassee, Seminoles capital of the world, and had the hardest time finding a store that even sold Gators gear, muchless black visors. Right as I was ready to give up, Sean remembered a place across town where he thought he’d seen Gators hats like 3 years before. I checked it out, they had one hat form, and one visor. The visor was the exact one she wanted. She hasn’t taken it off since Christmas…
I got Sean a toaster. I felt really cheap getting my best friend a toaster, so I gave him $50 too. He was really awesome and let me crash at his place the whole time I was in Florida.
Everyone else got my undying love. I was too broke to buy gifts for anyone outside my immediate family.
