So who likes Simon Pegg's Spaced?

I haven’t seen much going around here, but after seeing shaun of the dead, I decided to buy a Spaced DVD and I have to say that I loved it so much that I watched them all on the same day! My favorite episode? I would say that it has to be the clubbing scene. Favorite scene of this episode would be the point where Mike leads the crowd with his dances. My favorite scene of the season must be the paintball scene.

Anyone else love spaced? Got any favorite moments? I sure did love what I saw.

I am somewhat disappointed that there will be no more episodes. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait for the newest films, but I have to say that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are a great combo.

I’ve got both seasons on dvd and love them - they were shown in Australia on the ABC a few years ago.

My partner and I still tell each other “Skip to the end” when the other is telling a long boring story.

Absolutely loved the series. No favourite episodes…they were all great. Although I love the “shooting with their fingers” scene in series 2, the “skip to the end” line, the “Fred and Daphne from Scooby Doo” scene and the Star Wars references.

Simon Pegg and the guy who played the artist also appeared in a British sketch show, Big Train but I’m not sure whether it’s available on region 1 dvd.

Mememememememe

My friend got it for me for my birthday. It took us a while to get it de-coded, re-coded, flipped around and burned but I can now watch it in Region 1 bliss.

Finally, a “Friends”-like show I can identify with!!! SO GOOD!!! Too few episodes :frowning:

I do! I bought both series on DVD before I had a DVD player I had to buy a player specifically to watch Spaced.

Brian: I rent downstairs.
Tim: Are you gay?
Brian: Um. . . . [quizical look]. . . no.

Daisy: Cuppa tea?
Tim: Nah, twelve’s my limit.

Tim: Sure as night follows day, eggs is eggs and every odd numbered Star Trek movie is shit.

Anyone: What do you paint?
Brian: Anger. Pain. Fear. Agression.
Merk Check out Black Books. Not as good as Spaced (what is) but a similar type of humour and Bill Baily is one of the main characters.

Spaced is absolutely hysterical. It’s my newest favorite show.

“The first rule of robot fight club is don’t talk about robot fight club. The second rule is don’t talk about…no, wait. Sorry. The second rule is no smoking.”
“Why can’t we smoke?”
“We can’t talk about it.”
“Oh, all right.”

I left heavy hints for my sister to get the season set for my birthday, I just loved it too much not to have it to hand on DVD. Its one of those series that lasted such a short while but seemed to go on for ages, bit like Bagpuss

Favourite episode is the paint balling episode, any scene really with Tim and Mike are winners. Despite the lack of Star Trek references there were the odd references to 2000AD to keep me happy.

Not forgetting that Marsha somehow reminded me of a smoking, drinking version of my ex

I love Spaced - the Star Wars references are spot on. I love the end of the 6th episode, mirroring the end of Empire Strikes Back.

“Babylon 5’s a big pile of sh*t!”

Another vote for the clubbing episode, although the one where they have to rescue Colin the dog is great too. There’s a brilliant outtake from one scene with Bill Bailey doing a Yoda impression.

And when the boxset looks like this you can’t help but love it.

Oh, and Small Clanger’s right - check out Black Books. Different from Spaced, very strange, but also very clever. I’m a big fan.

I love Spaced so much I’m tempted to get TFU in gothic lettering on the front of my bass guitar.

Big fan of Spaced. Had never heard of it until a cousin insisted we borrow the disk. So glad she did! Same (beloved) cousin gave us our very own copy of the DVD as a gift that same year.

Hawk the Slayer was rubbish!
::smack::

Genius I tell you. Fried Gold! I remember watching Hawk the slayer when I was about nine and loving it. If I had to watch it again, I’d probably need a smack from Bilbo. Strange to think that old Hawk is now playing Jack’s dad in Lost.

I actually used “Skip to the end” once on Mrs. GSV without thinking. Luckily for me, she got the reference.

Love it, re-watch it frequently, sleep like a baby to the DVD menu sound loop!

It’s hard to pick favorite bits, because practically every single scene is classic. Tim cremating his Star Wars stuff after The Phantom Menace? The One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest episode? Mike’s interview to get back into the TA, with the Rorsach inkblots? (“A butterfly…” examiner frowns, “with a bomb!” Examiner smiles.) Tim’s Resident Evil hallucinations? Daisy being Phillipa from Robot Wars? (Daisy: What’s up with him? Tim: Oh, Mike usually likes to be Phillipa…)

Is it worth buying again just for the bonus disc?

hmm, looks like the second season has most of the memorable moments. I don’t recognize most of them. Also, you don’t have to have a region 2 player to play the disc. I live in Denmark, but my computer is American. Luckily VLC doesn’t check the disc for the region code and plays any region. There’s nothing in the physical drive that checks it, it is only the software. Of course I don’t have a TV anyway, so I watch everything on my Mac.

Mike: “a butterfly…with a bomb!”

Tim: So what did we do last night?
Daisy: We had a bunch of free wine, ate a load of twiglets, and you went psycho an hit vulva.
Tim: Oh shit, I’m not supposed to eat twiglets…
Daisy: Why not?
Tim: They make me violent.

Its funny about the clubbing scene. They never really mentioned much about taking drugs, but they must have been, because they only drank water the entire night. I think this was a classy way to put it because they couldn’t have sold the whole rave atmosphere with just alcohol, but then it would seem like they were trying too hard to specifically make a note of it. Nicely done I think.

“Only for the…Only for the…Only for the hardcore UK ravers. boom boom boom boom, REWIND!”

"“There’s been a misprint on one of the covers of the new issues.”

“Which one?”

“Total Cult.”

pause

“Oh.”

Laughed for a solid minute.

I know I’m resurrecting this thread after a few years, but I’m just watching the show for the first time and loving it. It’s a bit hit or miss, but already I’ve adopted the slow motion shootouts. And the above line just killed me.

And I’ll say that it shouldn’t be called Simon Pegg’s spaced. That ignores Jessica Haynes’ and Wright’s contributions.

The boombox scene. That’s luv, peoples.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. Favourite bit is either the paintball one, or the Cuckoo’s Nest one.

I love Simon Pegg, but I think Jessica Hynes/Stevenson is highly underrated. Great in Spaced, and one of the best Doctor Who two-parters (Human Nature/Family of Blood). Hell, I even liked According to Bex, and she’s disowned that. She’s also my go-to example of a hot non-Hollywood-type normal woman.

Not to mention bloody spectacular.

Duane Benzie was such a perfect douche. I’ve met many like him. Sadly, none of them got swarmed by hoodies.

It’s not a bedsit… (Warning: link contains spoilers)

Damn… now I’m going to have to spend all day watching season 2, I hope you’re pleased with yourself Hamlet!
