Anyone else watch "Big Bang Theory"

I’ve been watching it and I like it. It’s about “geeks” and their inability to fit in. Dumb jokes, stereotypes - sure. It is an American sitcom. But the actors are putting forth good, funny performances and creating fun characters. What do y’all think?

I actually really like it…it kind of amuses me. Maybe because I actually know people who are pretty close to being as geeky as the characters in it!

I like it. I especially like Sheldon – that actor plays that role quite well, with all his obsessive quirks and total cluelessness. Reminds me of Niles Crane on Frasier in some ways (the fussy ones, mostly).

I’m enjoying it so far.

I’m surprised that I’m still watching it. I keep trying to watch sitcoms, but failing. My usual habit is to watch the pilot and think “that was pretty good”. Then watch the next week or two with lowering opinions at each new episode, until quiting watching around week 3 or 4.

The only sitcom from last season that I’m still watching is My Name is Earl. I’m still enjoying Big Bang Theory. I laughed out loud several times in last night’s show.

And this scene from last week’s (?) show really cracked me up: Penny shows up, dressed for the clubs, with 3 hot friends while the 4 guys are obliviously online gaming. She opens the door and says, “My friends and I got tired of dancing, so we thought we’d come back here and have sex with you.” No response from the guys. Penny turns to her friends and says simply, “See?”.

J.

From that show, while it was predictable, I especially liked when Penny joined in and turned out to be quite good at Halo 3 – continually killing Sheldon’s character.

Leonard: “Wow, Penny… you’re on fire!”
Penny (looking at the screen): “Yeah, so’s Sheldon!”

I watch it and I like it. My wife likes it, too. It’s one of the few sitcoms we both enjoy.
Jokes about nerds and jokes by nerds both.

I like it. The geeks have conversations that are enough like my friends that it rings true (although exaggerated)

I liked when Sheldon went with Penny to the grocery and commented that buying vitamins was stupid and only resulted in very expensive urine.

Penny says: How do you know that isn’t what I’m shooting for?

Most people would have gotten the sarcasm, but for Sheldon it is a perfectly reasonable thing that she might be conducting an experiment. He says: Well then you’re going to need some manganese.

Yeah I really like it. Before it aired I figured that it would either suck, or would be good and get bad ratings, but it defied me - it’s good and is getting fairly good ratings. I like to watch it back to back with How I Met Your Mother.

I really like it, too. It’s tied with Pushing Daisies for my favorite new show this season. Of course, they are the only two new shows I’m watching this season.

Great show. You can tell they have some real geeks on staff.

I disengaged at what I thought were terrible previews, but I’ve heard all right things about it.

And, I simply have no high ground here because I’ve been watching “Cavemen”. I love that guy who plays the graduate student. In my defense, I watch it in a “dead zone” before catching the replay of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” on HBO on Tuesdays.

That’s happened to me here. There was a discussion about Star Trek technology awhile back, and I made what I thought was a flirtatious comment about how all the technobabble speak was very sexy and to keep going.

It was completely ignored. :frowning:

I do watch that show. I am thoroughly enjoying it…are TPTB Roseanne alums? So far we’ve had three former Roseanne stars on…I’m waiting for John Goodman to show up, and maybe First and Second Becky (once Scrubs is done.)

There’ve been a couple of threads on this show so far. Probably the biggest hit among my family members of this year’s shows. Not sure how bothered we should be about getting every single joke!

My fave scene was when they were in the restaurant, playing war games with all of the condiments using characters from various wars, religions, fantasies, etc.
And when Sheldon asked, “Who do I see about reserving this table?” Penny replied, “I don’t know – a psychiatrist?”

Glad it is getting favorable reviews. Wish they would lose the laughtrack.

So far, each of the geeks has gotten laid except Sheldon - I can’t WAIT for that!

My son’s biggest complaint of the “Halo” episode was that it should have been obvious to anyone that the sound effects were clearly not from Halo.

I’d heard it was one of the shows filmed before a live audience in a news story about the writer’s strike. Maybe they sweeten the laughter?

He could have this week if he weren’t totally clueless. Charming the Indian gal away from Raj. Then…

“Why would I see her again? I already have a dentist…”

Is the Pope Catholic?!

I mean, that is the one thing I HATE about this otherwise superb show.

The canned laughter can go.

Anyway, I have the first four eps on my Ipod, have caught the others on TV. ((Sorry Prison Break, but you SUCK this year.))

By far, the best Episode is the “Big Bran Hypothesis”

Sheldon: “You have Sarcasm Sign?!”

Sheldon “You really should speak in a lower register…”
– “If you have time to lean, you have time to clean”
Oh well. It is obvious from the Production plate at the end of Grasshoper Experiment that Lorre is with the Strikers.
I hope that this show surrvives, one way or another. Best stuff on TV in a while.

As a geek I was prepared to hate it assuming they would treat my people with a lack of respect. And lame jokes at our expense.

But god help me, I like it. And I’m thrilled that Leonard scored with Darlene from Roseanne. Ah, Sarah Gilbert, in another life we would have made beautiful children together…

It’s MUCH better than I thought it was going to be based on the first 2 episodes.

Although I think it might have been a good dynamic if the main character was a geek who wanted so desperately to “be cool” and shed his geek-ness and score the hot girl (and fail again and again) rather than being OK with being such a geek.

But what do I know? …Chuck Lorre rules!

But by the time most geeks are in their mid-20s they’ve given up on trying to be cool and are just happy being geeks. It’s much more true to life that way.

I think smart men are very sexy. I found Chandler so much more attractive than Joey on Friends…Joey was pretty, but Chandler was witty.
