So, who's on the SDMB instead of celebrating and why?

Thank you kindly, and to you and yours as well.

We’re doing much the same: picking at the leftovers and sitting rather dazed in front of the television, complaining about the cold.

Halfway through Christmas Day here, I’m the only one up (unless you count the cats) and I have manflu. Bah, humbug!

Did the shout out to family overseas.

Now going to bed and sleep into Christmas day.

Ho Hum just another boring day.

I am waiting for my lunch
It should be ready in about 5 or 6hours time!
Merry Christmas!

I’m waiting for my husband to wake up so we can open presents.

He mumbled that it’s still sleepytime, but I have no more sleeps left in me.

The wife and I have a long train ride ahead of us to celebrate Christmas with her parents up north. We’re just having some coffee 'til it’s time to leave.

Got up at six to fill stockings. Had my oatmeal and am waiting for people to wake up. Thinking about cooking some pancakes & sausage.

Have I mentioned I hate taking final exams at nine in the morning in a language I’m not particularly good at?

At least the rest of the day’s free.

Yuck. What language?

I’m Jewish. I celebrate Hanukkah. I am a convert from a family of people who range on the scale from “religion, huh?” to in church 4 times a week, saved, sanctified Pentecostals, all of whom celebrate Christmas. I know I’m an outlier, but they all know, they just either don’t care or passive-aggressively ignore what they know about me to foist their beliefs about what I should be on me.

Oddly enough, the ones least inclined to recognize my Judaism are the ones who only darken the doorstep of churches for weddings and funerals. Maybe its guilt?

Thinking about heading out for pancakes and sausage here. I figure someplace like a Denny’s would be open, and I could get a good breakfast with minimal fuss.

Right now, just having my coffee, surfing the SDMB, and having fun with our cats, who got some new toys in their stockings. So far, they’re a hit.

Make that September on.

Leeks?

Christmas isn’t a holiday I really celebrate, so things are quiet chez twicks. Puttered around online for a while this morning; opened the gift bag from my sister (a few little things and a lovely card); put the insulating blanket on the new(ish) water heater to get it [the blanket, the water heater is has been in the basement all along] off the dining room table, where it’s been sitting since I bought it a couple of weeks ago; started dinner prep. Having a couple of people over; they’ll be here in half an hour or so. Dinner with them, then we’re supposed to go over to the house of one of them for dessert and Holiday Inn, but I may just beg off and take a nap.

As I’ve mentioned in other threads, my brother has started spending Christmas morning with his wife’s family (he married this year; this started last year). As a result, we had Christmas last night. This morning I slept in and am now slopping around my apartment and listening to the Brandenburg Concertos, although I really should do some chores. We’re having Christmas dinner (the second of three) with his wife’s family tonight.

Well this Gentile hopes your Hanukkah was a good one. My problem is with the purely fabricated holidays, Xmas isn’t completely fabricated, just certain parts are.

Ma karah?*

*“What happened?” Already gotten in trouble for not posting in English once.

We’ve already opened presents and we’re waiting for the turkey to finish. I’m supposed to be working on stuff but…

We’re shivering through the coldest Boxing Day that any of us can remember: it’s misty, wet and the temperature is only 12C. Normally we’d be outside having a BBQ or something. Instead we’re inside watching the cricket and grazing on yesterday’s leftovers.
