It has been kind of shocking the 4 times I’ve been banned. Mostly because the last three were completely out of the blue.
I scoured the posts made by those last three member names and didn’t find anything warranting a ban. The best I could sumise is it’s against SDMB rules to refer to someone as “pal” or call them on playing the “I’ve been posting longer than you have so I’m always right” card.
So why aren’t people notified when they are banned?
It seems like a simple email from a MOD or even a form letter informing you would be adequate.
Well, to be fair…if you know you were banned once, and you return in violation of the SDMB rules, and are banned subsequently…well, you know why you’re banned, they know why you’re banned, so…is there some ambiguity here?
I guess if you were never informed on your first banning, that would be somewhat confusing and troublesome. But on subsequent ones, well…no offense meant, but I guess it’s kinda potluck on whether someone feels it’s worthy to rehash it with you, isn’t it?
I’m thinking you should get an e-mail saying “form letter” shortly.:wally

Back at you Cooter.
I wasn’t informed the first time. But I was willing to accept that some comment I made offended SOMEONE with the power to ban.
And how would they know if the same person returned if they are using a different email and even different IP?
Questions about banning should be handled by e-mailing an administrator, not by creating a new username and posting at the message board.
