After another well-deserved banning, I wondered what the procedure is. Does the bannee just try to log in and find the site blocked? Or do they get an email telling them they’ve been banned and why? Can they still read the boards?

IANA Moderator, but yes, yes, and yes.
I love it when a woman says that to me.
The banned person can no longer sign in to the MB. We usually send them an e-mail to let then know why they’re banned, but not always - for example if it’s a person that continuously signs up with multiple names then we might not bother with the e-mail. Anyone with an internet connection can read the boards, you just can’t sign in without a valid username.
Since questions about banned users attract problem children like flies I will now close this thread since the question has been answsered.
