So You Think You Can Dance -- SYTYCD -- Fall 2009

Yeah, let’s shoot her also.

So, will the husband and wife be partnered for the competition?

I would be astonished if they were – that would be an unfair advantage, since everyone else would be adapting to a partner they’ve never worked with before.

I was thinking cancer, but her allusion to “not much going my way recently” I thought hinted at why she won’t be on the show as much.

That’s Mollee, and yeah, I can’t stand her either.

Come on, it may have been a recent development, or the potential conflict was still not a certainty, or she may have thought she wouldn’t have to come down to making that choice. It certainly didn’t seem like a casual thing to her, but maybe I’m biased because I thought Paula was quite enchanting throughout (though I prefer her with the bob cut). Too bad–I guess Channing and Karen will be the resident hotties now.

 And this is based on what exactly? :dubious:

I wasn’t criticizing Paula – I just found it interesting that she turned them down.

And re: the married ballroom dancers: I’m basing it on watching them interact, their body language, what they say, etc. He just seems way more into her than she is into him. YMMV, of course – but that’s the vibe I’m getting.

I am really stunned that they sent so many good dancers home, but Mollee made it into the top 20. There is something really fishy going on there. I think they did it for the drama. I might have to stop watching the show until she leaves.

I’m not sure I really like Mia being replaced by Adam Shankman. I have a bad feeling about this.

I’ll agree with you on this. I’m not saying she’s faking her whole marriage or anything, but it’s possible that he’s just more demonstrative.

I’m glad to see Bianca finally make it through. I’m flat-out amazed that they took three tappers. I really hope that they have the opportunity to use it.

That’s not really the replacement, I don’t think – has Adam ever done any choreography for the show? He’s too busy with other projects to come in for the full week that would take, though I think he occasionally judges during the season.

And I like Adam.

He did a group routine once, to promote Hairspray, but I think that’s it.

And I like him, too.

I missed the last audition show (i.e., the one last week), what’s so bad about Mollee?

Mollee is annoyingly cute. Well, or just plain annoying. She acts like a 14yro girl in a bubbly, effervescent, BOINGBOINGBOING way. I teach at a middle school, and she seriously acts like some of the sweeter 8th grade girls. Sweet–but still in an 8th grade girl kind of way.

The way she and Ashleigh (is that who it was?) were instantly best friends made me want to hurl. It is seriously such a little girl thing the way they acted toward and with each other: instantly self-proclaimed best friends in a bouncey, loud, squeally, OMIGOD! kind of way. Hubby just shook his head and said, “Seriously. They’re at summer camp. This is a total summer camp friendship.”

Mollee seems like a wonderful young lady–but I do not want to see her week after week after week. Gag.

Squeaky-cry girl got old in a huge hurry, too.

Krumper is currently my favorite, followed by Bianca. The others I’m just waiting to get to know.

Mia, meanwhile, was so saccharinly sweet in these last few episodes it felt patently false. I don’t know what her deal was, but it seemed odd. Maybe she got so much zing from last season, she felt the need to be a Nicer, Kinder, Gentler Mia Michaels. Good, I suppose, but it just seemed unnatural and forced.

I am also confused by the Mollee hate. Maybe because it seems the judges are passing over experienced veterans like Evan’s bald-headed tapping brother to get fresh faced telegenic youngsters. Although Mollee does look young enough to still have an umbilical, I’m cutting her slack until she actually does anything.

I don’t mind the married couple being paired. I hope the tappers go out quick, though. Tap is stupid and boring because it feels like I’ve seen it all before and it isn’t something that integrates well into any of the partner styles drawn for the show (i.e. Paso Doble, Quickstep, etc.) I much prefer watching a trick-heavy b-boy or those unique poppers that do stuff nobody else can do.

Adam has just been selected to produce the next Academy Awards show, so I suspect we won’t be seeing much of him this season.

Ashleigh is part of the married couple. I think Mollee’s BFF  is…Noel? Who at least looks and acts a bit older.

Huh. Oddly enough, this is how I feel about all the stuff like krump and popping and I don’t even know which is which on those various styles. Tricks and gymnastics, ot real dancing, and not that interesting to watch.

Yay! I’m happy his career is going well (though I understand they were having a hard time finding someone willing to take it on, so it may not be an unmixed blessing.

Yeah, Noelle. I suspect if Mollee were to disappear she’d act quite normally (and age-appropriately).

Re: Mollee making it when Ryan didn’t – I’m a Ryan fan, and he really wasn’t dancing well in Las Vegas. He didn’t lose a spot to her in any way – even aside from the fact that she got a girl spot and he was up for a boy spot.

Married ballroom gal has an odd face. Could it be from using steroids?

As to Mollee, I think that personality and diversity are considered as well. She is annoying, but has a distinct personality, speaks clearly, and will appeal to certain demographics.

Someone help me out, please. The tappers were making a very big deal of being the first ones to make it in to the top 20. I clearly recall in season 1 there was a girl who tapped! She even used tap in the “dance for your life” part when she was one of the bottom 3 couples. She was a tall, skinny Af-Am girl with I think curly hair. I can’t be completely inventing this memory…maybe tap was not her *primary *style?

I was also sad to see Paula go. I remembered her from last year and was rooting for her.

Looks more like she uses fake tanning products to me. She’s orange enough that it looks like a spray tan, but it could be a fake bake one as well.

I couldn’t agree more, award winner or not. (stupid in Mia Michaels fake hipster talk usually means “really good”.)

Based upon her behaviour she’s a very angry unhappy person, despite her fakey little smiles and annoying pseudo-hip “you’re stupid, ugly raw amazing” crap. Whatever her personal problems, it would be nice if she’d KEEP Them to HERSELF instead of spewing her poison all over the dancers and the stage with her black choreography.

The snippy little comment she made to Kherrington a few seasons ago says it all (paraphrased) “life’s not all about smiles and sunshine you know”. Which is very hypocritical (or at least inconsistent) of her considering that 99% of her choreo is about angst, anger, sadness or something awful from life’s dark side.

I think Mollee is cute and I LIKE her personality, you can tell it is completely her and real. Sure she needs to get more mature dance-wise, but why the hatred over cuteness and bubbly-ness? And not just in this one instance, it seems whenever a truly lighthearted cute person is around, they engender a lot of hatred from people. BTW, I’m not in a “certain demographic” I’m a grandma, unless grandmas are that “certain demographic”. She IS only 18, though I’m not a huge fan of the contemporaries, I hope she has a chance to grow into her dancing.

I don’t mind lighthearted and cute. But I think Mollee simply came across as childish and sort of vapid, with a bit of an annoying demeanor to boot.
