Am I really starting this thread the day before the season starts? Frankly, the only reason I checked for it on the Guide was because Mandy Moore choreographed Maks and Erin’s routine for DWTS!

It’ll be interesting, because from what I’ve heard, this season will be a little different in that dancers from previous years, who’d made the Top 10, will be returning to partner with those who make this new cut this time around. Kind of like an All-Star version, sort of.Don’t know how spoilery that really was, but hedging my bets, just in case–though it seems like an obvious ploy to spike the ratings a bit. We’ll see…
And perhaps a way of insuring against last year’s injury problem – If the top 10 aren’t partnered with each other, then at least an injury doesn’t inconvenience another contestant.
The girl that went first… was big for a dancer. But she was great, so that’s all that matters.
Teddy’s back, and through to Vegas. Hope he doesn’t break down again once he’s there.
Not happy to see Mia return. Ugh. Always glad to see Adam, though I can’t really look at him the same way since those photos of him getting a lap dance from Miley Cirus. At least he probably wasn’t enjoying it. 
I wonder if we’ll see Ryan again this year (Evan’s brother). If we do hopefully he doesn’t choke in Hollywood again.
That lady with the young child and sexy husband… I don’t recall her name, but she went through to choreography and eventually to Vegas… I hope she can really step up her game. She has such an intensity and androgyny to her dancing that I really love.
Is Adam going to be the permanent third judge again? I hope so, his comments are knowledgeable and helpful – and coherent. And kind. I [heart] Adam.
I am not happy to see Mia back either. I hate her unhelpful comments about being “organically pure” and I hate the way she treated that one dancer…whose name escapes me at the moment.
I am glad Adam is back. I read him listed as a judge and took it to mean he’d be on the panel all season.
I didn’t see May Murphy listed at all, and while she’s loud and quasi annoying, I am just not sure it’ll be the same without her.

wiki says Mary was replaced as permanent judge by Mia, but Mary will be choreographing. (sp?)

Mary may be irritating with the shrieking and what-not, but she also really knows her stuff with all the different ballroom styles and often has very sharp, perceptive critiques about the subtleties of steps, carriage, etc. that the other judges don’t usually bring up within those genres. Certainly I prefer both her quality of judging and her general personality better than the bipolar (she’s either teary or pissy) Mia.
Yeah, “bipolar” is about right for Mia, and yeah, Mary is very knowledgeable on ballroom – but my god, I’m salivating at the thought of an entire season without hearing the phrase “the hot tamale train.”
I think you’re thinking of Brandon from season 5. She spent the entire season talking shit about him, about how he’s too cocky, how he isn’t good etc. But towards the middle season, after every choreographer talked about how Brandon was a dancing genius Mia goes on how she was only hard on him because she knew he could do great things and wanted to push him. :rolleyes:
YES, that was his name. I hated the way she treated that boy, even when she claimed she pushing him.
I am gonna miss the hot tamle train myself. It meant nothing at all, except Mary thought the dancers were hot in their routine, yet so many set that as a weekly goal for themselves. It was great.
I hope Travis Wall is choreographing this season again. He and Wade are probably my favorite choreographers on the show.
Count me in the “get rid of Mia” group. That whole “let’s be big girls together” crying bit bugs the hell outta me (and I ain’t tiny, either)
I don’t like the idea of 10 dancers paired up with former dancers! All 20 should be newbies. All 20 should be figuring it all out as they go. My opinion, for what it’s worth.
My guess with the 10 dancer format is that they are going to try and squeeze in 2 short seasons, or don’t want to dilute the talent pool for the tour and will combine 2 seasons into one tour.
No dicking around this season – Vegas tomorrow and next Wednesday, and we meet the top ten next Thursday.

Ok, I found it. It’s “Photographs and Memories” by Jason Reeves. I couldn’t find anything online but then I remembered I recorded the episode on my DVR. So yeah, I put this song on and my wife goes, “Oh, I love this song.”
