Hands in front of you, palms up, going slightly up and down like you’re weighing two grapefruit.
The only reason I’m familiar with the term 6-7 is because it was on a recent episode of South Park and I didn’t get the apparently very meta joke of Cartman tricking adults into saying “6 7” and then laughing while they stare in confusion.
The whole thing sounds real George.
Let’s all go throw sixes in the seven.
I dug their rap. My mamma didn’t raise no dummy.
I wonder if there is any relation to the old expression “at sixes and sevens”.
When my Grandson does this crap, I give him the punchline to the old joke “why was 6 afraid of 7?”
Because 7 ate 9.
That’s not the origin of the phrase, though. It says in the link, but for more detail:
A monkey and an elephant are taking a bath. The elephant says, “Pass the soap.” The monkey says “No soap, radio.” And everyone laughs except the one person being played. They’re supposed to pretend to get it, then get laughed at because, dummy, it doesn’t mean anything! Which brings us back to 6, 7.
Here’s a Wikipedia entry about it:
That’s one of my favorite riddles to ask young kids. Recently, though, one of them surprised me. When I asked it, he replied, “because Six knew that Seven was after him.” I think that’s a way better answer.
Just realized 67 is a prime number. It is the 19th prime number, and 19 is also a prime number.
It’s so great how kids these days honor the Summer of Love!
I just mean, he could have seen the TV show, and then would have “heard of” the phrase. It was neither new, nor funny, in 1982.
Now just make up explanations for what those numbers mean and you’re halfway to creating your own religion.
We need to fight back.
Anytime, you hear a young person say 67, you should respond by singing "-5309. Jenny, I got your number. Hey, I didn’t know you kids liked that song."
I guarantee this will kill 67 within a week.
6 and 7 add to 13, which is a prime number, and 67 is the 13th prime after 13.
Whoa… I think those gummies just kicked in.
I miss “23-skidoo.”
54-40 or fight!
You’re old enough to have seen this show, but if you blinked too long, you probably missed it
that aired on ABC on Thursdays from April 15 until May 13, 1982.
There was a distinct lack of televisions at boot camp.![]()
Helpful summary - thanks.
(Also surely a death knell!)
