Social Spread of Slang Term “6-7”

Even better if you mash up with Stacy’s Mom and Jessie’s Girl.

I really didn’t know today’s kids were that easily amused. When do they usually say 6-7? Is it mostly just in the little videos?

Whelp, showing that one to the boy. I think he’d love it.

I admit, I just don’t get the desire for kids to not have things for themselves (that yes, sometimes try to exclude you/adults) that they enjoy and do you no harm. I’m sure kids think a lot of things you do are stupid and annoying, too, but they mostly don’t try to stop you from doing them…mostly.

It’ll happen to you

That, and 7 is a registered 6 offender.

Ooh ! I like it.

It’s just not a version I can tell to little kids.

Oh, and funny story…

Just yesterday, I learned that not only is Jenny a prime, but she has an older twin sister: 8675309 and 8675311 are both prime. And I shared that fact with the other math teachers in our group chat. One of them responded with a link to that song, and another replied “He said 6 7!”.

Right as the “skibidi toilet” action figures hit Walmart too, sucks for them.

Can’t link, but there’s a cartoon showing the numbers 420 and 69 as bent-over old men with canes saying “We used to be hip, too!”

I asked my 25 year-old and my 22-year-old about it, and they each told me that it “made them feel old”.

Did you strangle them?

I’ve never been more >< at people I’ve never met in my life.

Kids trying on adulthood.

If a kid says ‘6-7’, reply with ‘4-2!’ That’s the answer.

No, like literally any time they possibly can, in real life.

The first time I was really exposed to it was during my niece’s birthday party this summer. She was opening gifts and we had a baseball game on in the background. Her younger cousins were “6-7!!!”-ing with delight any time either number showed up on the screen. It was pretty ridiculous but it made me chuckle.

This week I was at a middle school orchestra concert and they had a raffle. Of the 4 ticket numbers that were called, TWO of them ended in 67 and the crowd went wild.

So basically any time the words 6 or 7 are uttered, kids go nuts.

My 14-year-old son says he’s “too old” for it. My 11 year-old loves it. So at least around here, that appears to be the dividing line - somewhere around 7th/8th grade.

Middle school - my 6 year old granddaughter said it to me over the weekend. She said she doesn’t know what it means, but kids at school are saying it.
